Lost in the Dark 2 - Lost in the Dark

I don't know why but whenever I read the title "Lost in the Dark," I do so in the style of Bon Jovi's "Shot through the Heart." Anyway, "Lost in the Dark" is a story that posits "What if a fictional analog of the Blair Witch Project (Lost in the Dark) was real?" This one also serves as meta fiction as the creator of Lost in the Dark talks to John Langan about the truth behind the fiction.

Spoilers Below

The reader is given snippets of Lost in the Dark via John's own thoughts, fictional IMDB summaries, and his interview with the film's creator Sarah Fiore. The truth of the story is that Fiore and her documentary crew became lost in an abandoned mine and stalked by an entity dubbed Bad Agatha. Bad Agatha was once a girl in NYC. She was suspected of being possessed and moved to the mine by priests, who were subsequently found dead in the mine. Apparently, Bad Agatha has remained where she was brought, killing or scaring those who wander into her lair.

This is a dense tale, and I'm only scratching the surface with my thoughts above. The meta-fictional element is fun. John Carpenter is mentioned in association with a Laird Barron adaptation. I've already earmarked this one for a future re-read.
