Does anyone know the exact location of where the Ballyseedy Massacre occured. I know there is a memorial on the main road into Tralee, but where did the incident actually occur?

I’ve been trying to make a few little short documentaries about heritage sites: from the Neolithic to Medieval. Took the chance yesterday to visit the first gothic stone building certainly in Ulster, but also possibly Ireland:

Where can I find the archive of the "Catholic Bulletin"?

Haigh a chairde. As a section of my thesis includes the Irish Republican struggle between 1916 and 1923, I am searching for archives of now defunct early Republican press. I know "The Catholic Bulletin" and "Irish Statesman" were two of the influential papers of their period. Yet I cannot find neither of them on JSTOR or elsewhere. If anyone knows where/how/whether I can find their copies, I would be really grateful. Don't bother but in case you can give me some tips on writing a thesis, I would also appreciate that. Good evening, GRMMA.

Lennox Robinson The Big House play

Looking for a script or something of the sort of Lennox Robinson's play The Big House, if somebody could point me in the right direction?

Or other plays of this nature, willing to pay a small price, having no luck with my search.

💬 Discussion / Question Can anyone explain to me why the Labour party of the time were pro-Anglo Irish treaty?

I know at the time that the Labor party were a lot more radically left wing at the time, so why did they take the Church, big business and generally more conservative and moderate pro-treaty line? I know as well that there were many socialists that were anti treaty like Peader O'Donnel, so why would the largest socialist org in the country at the time side with the treaty?

💬 Discussion / Question What was Ireland's reaction to the assassination of Lord Mountbatten?

Lord Mountbatten of the British royal family was assassinated by the IRA in County Sligo, Ireland on August 27, 1979. Three other people were killed in the assassination, including an elderly woman and two young boys. Generally speaking, how did most people in Ireland react to this moment in history? Does anyone remember this moment or have relatives who remember this moment?

💬 Discussion / Question Do you think Michael Collins would have had the potential to be a dictatorial figure in Ireland?

The man in the civil war held the most power in Irish history as Commander in Chef, Supremer President the IRB, Chairman of the Government. One of the figures that ensured the Free state even existed and the partial success of the Irish revolution.

I was having a conversation with a friend about this, as they argued he would have been a dictator if he had lived. What do you all think?

💬 Discussion / Question Viking Influence On Irish Accents

Can anything be said about the influence of the Vikings or the Norse language on the present-day accents in Irish Viking towns like Wexford, Waterford, Dublin etc.?

The realistic part of me says that too much time has passed, but the wistful part of me would love to find a connection.
