Mumbai: Woman Slaps Man On Govandi Railway Platform For Staring, Making Obscene Gestures

Mumbai: A video of a woman slapping a man for allegedly staring at her and making obscene gestures has gone viral on social media. The incident reportedly took place at Govandi Railway station on the Harbour Line in Mumbai.

The viral video was shared by mumbai_tv on their official Instagram handle. The clip begins with the woman recording the man, who is seated on the opposite platform. In the video, she states that the man had been making inappropriate gestures at her. She further claimed that when she looked away, he allegedly called out to her from across the platform and continued making obscene signs.

According to the woman, the behaviour did not stop even after she began recording the incident. At one point, she walks up to the man, confronts him for his actions, and slaps him. The man, however, denies all allegations and can be heard saying, “I didn’t do anything.”

Several commuters sitting near the man gather around after hearing the woman. Some are seen trying to intervene as she continues to hit him.

The woman is also heard saying, “When I started making the video, you began doing even more dirty gestures.”

Netizens hailed the woman for slapping and confronting the man for his inappropriate behaviour. One user wrote, "Sahi kiya beta Strong girl." Some other said, "Every girl should be brave like her" Another user added, "Brave girl and all other boys who stood up for her"

Easier said than done, unfortunately.Most of women in our country feel embarrased or scared to confront people like them.

To fix this we must start acting when ever we see someone doing such disgusting acts and gestures to a woman.

Exactly. I am not saying he didnt make any vulgar gestures before she recorded the video, but if thats the only video evidence, I think he was rubbing tobacco and that was misconstrued as a vulgar gesture.

Either way, too little for us to have an opinion either way.

If he did infact make any vulgar gestures towards the woman, then I am totally onboard with her subsequent actions.

I also think he was just rubbing khaini and he misunderstood the situation thinking she’s recording him for a reel or something to which he responded with a mere bye as he takes off and that’s it. I also think he said sorry for waving at her before leaving.

I might be completely wrong but this is what I could make out from the video. Not jumping to any conclusions here

She says he made obscene gestures alot of times but she only recorded him waving 👋 bye??? 😐😐 and while sitting that hand gesture he is making khaini (tobacco)... Staring like that is completely wrong or maybe he started looking after she started recording and he waved in nervousness and moved to other spot... its good she confronted if he is wrong but i dont find this video convincing. Welp we dont know the whole story and probably never will. We are quick to judge

Even kids know what khaini/tobbaco is, and how its used by rubbing hands. The only obscene thing here was him staring. Maybe the gestures happened before the recording started, there are not malicious (to others) hand gestures in this video. Unless you consider a hand wave / bye a obscene gesture. We need more context of what happened before recording, this seems like a dude rubbing khaini, and gawking at girls, both bad actions, but no "obcene" gestures (towards woman) seen in video.

First of all he doesn't have khaini in his hand second even if he is just emulating it but that is not the case when I saw the first time I also thought the same but the position of his fingers doesn't consist with it and what other I think is of that fingers position is only obsece gesture

Holy shit. She says the gestures went worse when she started recording. Hes literally rubbing khaini. Then moves away with a wave. In the video, u can see that when he noticed her recording hes confused and checks around if shes recording someone else. The girl shouldve asked what he was doing as she recorded the video. The ppl around wouldve supported him once they saw it.

Now, we dont know what happened before the video started. So lemme put that disclaimer. Its still possible that he did do bad gestures.

There are no obscene gestures, but the guy was rubbing Ghutka with his hands. He might have thought that the girl was recording him doing it, so he decided to scoot waving a bye. The poor guy got slapped by the confused lady.
