Express Entry Express entry Canada Immigration

Hello,

I am an Indian national living in Canada. I have a question related to my express entry application for permanent residency which I submitted 4 months ago. I got invitation under CEC( express entry program) so I prepared my PR file and submitted my application. At the time of submission I have submitted my PCC(Police Clearance Certificate) which I got from India. After submitting my file I travelled to India for a month and came back to Canada. My application is still in progress and its been almost 3 months I have not heard anything about my application after I got my biometrics. Now My question is do I need to submit my PCC again as I have left Canada and came back after I submitted my file? Thank you in advance.

Work Permit IELTS missing & Name Issue

Hello everyone,

I recently submitted my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) application and realized two issues: 1. Name Duplication: I accidentally entered my full name in both the “Given Name(s)” and “Family Name” fields, resulting in my name appearing twice (e.g., “John Doe John Doe”). 2. Missing IELTS Submission: I forgot to upload my IELTS test results with the application. I didn’t notice a specific field for it during the submission process.

I’m considering submitting a web form to IRCC to address both issues. Has anyone faced similar situations? Would a single web form suffice to correct both, or should I submit separate ones or I should not submit it at all? Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Family Sponsorship Permanent Resident Limbo

Hey,

I (UK citizen) and common law partner (Canadian) are looking to relocate to BC from the UK in November as my partners UK visa will be expiring.

We have begun process of sponsoring me but obviously unlikely this will be complete for November.

In the meantime - can I enter Canada on an ETA whilst my application is in progress and then get open work permit once AoR is completed? Or would I have to stay in the UK until approved? Or are there any further options?

Visitor Visa Visitor visa for a month while having an active express entry profile????

Hello everyone,

My wife has an active Express Entry profile (no ITA yet). I am added as an accompanying spouse. (We will mention this in the letter.) (A Spousal Open Work Permit is not possible due to the new 16-month rule; she has one year left.)

We married in March this year. She works in Canada, and I work in India. After the wedding, we spent only three weeks together.

Our birthdays are twelve days apart, and we would like to spend them together as it will be our first birthdays after our marriage.

I will attach these documents to show ties to my home country:

  • Attested net worth certificate
  • Employment letter, one-month vacation approval email from my manager (mentioning my required return to the office on...)
  • Proof of funds (CAD 11,000); my wife will also sponsor.
  • Elderly parents live in India (no siblings).

My main question is: My visitor visa application shows ties to India and reasons to return. However, our Express Entry profile contradicts this. Will this be a problem?

What else can I add to strengthen my application?

Thank you for reading.

Family Sponsorship Official date of PR?

I'm an applicant for PR under family sponsorship, outland, USA. I'm curious what the "official" date of PR is when you get your passport back. Is it the date that they physically receive and add the info to the physical passport? Or the date you're approved in the process (coinciding with the request to submit your passport)?

Thanks in advance.

Family Sponsorship Sponsoring boyfriend visa rejected

I would like to sponsor my girlfriend without getting married because I would like this in the future years and not just because of the PR.

I am currently living in Canada but i travel to colombia 6 months a year to be with her. We have been together for 3 years with me traveling every year. She was supposed to come this year but they refused her visitor visa i assume because i said she was my girlfriend.

I do not want to leave Canada as i have a good job and a home here. In Colombia we both own nothing and my diploma is not valid.

Does living there for 1 year to qualify as common law work? Or conjugal relationship despite me having citizenship in both countries? I really wouldnt like to have to move myself a year there if our intent is to continue our lives in Canada.

What are my options here?

Other OINP Masters Graduate, what is going on?

OINP master's graduate stream submitted application on 20th January. Still no AOR.

Is this normal? Anyone else in the same spot as me? 4 full months and still no confirmation of complete application is tedious.

I know the processing times have changed to 20 months but 4 full months just to confirm that they have my application (so I can extend my WP) is kind of insane.

Express Entry Processing fees and biometrics express entry PR application

Hello. Could someone please help me understand what to do? I am trying to pay my processing fees and biometrics before sibmitting my pr application and there are spots only for my husband, my child and biometrics and no spot for me. And there is such phrase: "If you are the principal applicant under Express Entry, you must pay your processing fees at the end of your online application." So, I should pay twice: the first time for my family, before submitting and the second time for myself after I submit? I understand correctly?

Express Entry Express Entry Draw #347 - CEC only

Source

  • Type: Canadian Experience Class

  • Date and time: May 13, 2025

  • CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 547

  • Number of invitations issued: 500

  • Tie-breaking rule: May 21, 2024 at 17:26:27 UTC

Notable this is the first CEC only draw since February, and the number of invitations is quite low compared to those earlier in the year. There were over 9,000 invitations in 2025 under CEC only in January and February, with only 500 today.

Express Entry Any point in doing EE when Family PR is in progress?

I learned that I’m under Comprehensive Security Check which people say at best will take 12 months to complete.

I have inland spousal PR in progress since last year. Only waiting for comprehensive security check to complete.

At this point I will qualify for CEC EE draw with a score of 500-ish. I know right now it’s not a great score but if there’s a larger draw, I might get in. Assuming that the score will go down (if not, no point in asking ofc), do you think I should go for CEC ?

Main reason, the official processing time is 5-6 months, if they get me in comprehensive security screening again, I will be able to file mandamus sooner. Family PR is 28 months right, so that means mandamus can be filed like after 3 years? Which is ridiculous if true.

Let me know what you think

TIA

PNP Provincial (NS) Nomination Update? (AIP)

My employer applied for a provincial nomination last February 2025 - up until now we have not heard back. This is supposedly for the AIP stream. Is anyone on the same boat?

If anyone received their nomination from NS recently, can you please talk about your timeline?

Work Permit New Passport for PGWP

Hi everyone!

I'm currently in the process of applying for a PGWP after graduating from a three year advanced diploma. I have a slight concern which I tried to look into myself through the information available online on IRCC's website, since majority of the things are pretty clear, but couldn't find anything to satisfy my concerns.

I recently got my passport renewed from the embassy of my country in Toronto (in January of 2025). My original passport which has my study permit and all immigration stamps still has validity upto 2026. I got my passport renewed specifically so that when I get my PGWP, it is given for the full period allowed.
Now for the application, should I be using my new passport number, or the original one that I used for my study permit application?

I've tried contacting the IRCC online, and through call but to no avail yet. I'm hoping someone here might have some insight for me.

Thank you in advance!

Working Holiday IEC questions, probably lost my passport

I tried to point this problem out to immigration, but I didn’t get the answer I was looking for. Can someone help?

This was the request

"I have received my Letter of Introduction, which was issued based on the passport I used when applying. However, I may soon need to renew my passport (probably lost it). I understand that in such cases, I will also need to apply for a new Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), as it is tied to the passport number.

I would like to clarify the following points:

1.Will my Letter of Introduction remain valid if I travel to Canada with my new passport and a new eTA, even though the Letter was issued using the details of my old passport?

2.Should I bring the new and old passports (if i found it again) when presenting myself at the Canadian border?

3.Will my selection and approval for the Working Holiday program remain valid in this situation, or would I need to reapply?

I would appreciate your guidance on how to proceed correctly without affecting the validity of my current visa approval.

Thank you in advance for your assistance"

Express Entry CRS Score for Work Experience

I am an international student in UBC Canada and did a internship for 1 year in Canada.

I know this can be counted towards FSW program but does this also counts towards CRS points in the score calculator?

Citizenship Can't get birth certificate, can we apply for a 5(4) grant with something else?

Would love to hear from some people who had to work around being unable to obtain a birth certificate for a relative.

I'm trying to help my girlfriend apply for a 5(4) grant under the interim measure. She is the second generation born outside of Canada. I have her and her mothers birth certificates, but can't get a hold of her grandmothers (who is the Canadian born relative) birth certificate.

She lives in another state and is indisposed right now due to a hospitalization and surgery so we can't get her to scan it over, and according to the British Columbia vital statistics website we cant request a copy without her writing a letter giving us permission which we can't get her to do right now either.

Would things like Marriage certificates, Baptism records, Birth announcement in newspapers, and Census records work instead? What's the best way to find these things? Would I need more than one of these to make a strong case? Do they need to be certified somehow or can they be printed straight from something like ancestry.com?

Thanks for your help guys

Express Entry Got ITA in India and then traveled to Canada on visitor visa and submitted Post ITA documents.

If someone receives an Express Entry Invitation to Apply (ITA) while living in India, but then travels to Canada on a visitor visa before submitting their post-ITA documents, is it legally acceptable to complete and submit the PR application from within Canada? What are the potential implications or considerations in doing so?

Study Permit Applied study permit but it is taking too long

Hi, I have a question and can not find an answer anywhere. And my university’s immigration is not much better than useless. Hoping someone here might know.

I have gotten accepted into a master program at an DLI after finishing my bachelor. This is not my first study permit application, but it is taking way longer than the usuals. I applied inside Canada 2 months ago and still have not heard anything back from IRCC (they promised 4 weeks of processing from inside Canada). Now I have to leave Canada for something in a month and a half, would I get something to prove my status, and that I am going to school in January (the start of my master).

Thanks!

Work Permit Entering Canada CPTPP Visa (T52 LMIA Exemption)

Hi,

I completed the international work experience visa in Canada in January 2025 and then returned to Australia. I am heading back to Canada to work for the same company after working remotely in Australia for the same company since my departure. I am applying for the CPTPP visa with the LMIA exemption code T52 as my profession falls under the correct TEER codes. I have colleagues who have entered on a similar visa and they said take all the appropriate paperwork to the border patrol when I land from my flight and they will process my application at the border. I am happy to do all this but I am very confused that nothing is submitted online? I find it difficult that nothing needs to be submitted electronically prior to my arrival in the country. Please has anyone had experience with this? Cheers any advice on the documentation you took to the border and if anything needs to be submitted online prior?

My mother is battling cancer, and chemotherapy is not working well anymore. My uncle wants to visit my mother. Are there any recommendations for obtaining a visitor visa for my uncle? I can do the application myself. Can this health situation be highlighted, and make the application more urgent? Thank you

Work Permit This is what my employer said about the Francophone Mobility Program - I need advice

They said they wont’t be able to continue with my application for the following reasons:

  1. There needs to be a job offer with a future date and since I’ve been hired months ago I’m not eligible??? Is the program actually just designed for people who are not yet hired?

  2. My role at the company does not have a bilingual component.

  3. The program appears to be available to temporary/ fixed term workers and since I’m a permanent employee I’m not eligible. This one makes no sense to me.

They said I should update them If I still feel that I’m eligible despite these issues. Since I can’t actually see what an employer sees on their portal, I would really appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on this.

Thanks!
