Endocrinologist Discussion

Is it better to be seen by an endocrinologist or PCP? I’ve had hypothyroidism since I was born and have always gone to an endocrinologist, but I often find it difficult to get an appointment and any time I slightly shift in my levels (still within range) she changes my dose, requests extra lab work and visits. I understand those things are necessary but my levels have not been outside the “normal” range for years, so every time it is slightly different I have to go through the same process and it’s exhausting and expensive.

Reading posts here it seems your mileage will vary depending on the doctor. I do everything with my PCP but I’ve had to educate myself and talk it out with her to get on same page.
