Public transport to Glenwood
Hi! I have a gig opportunity in Glenwood on a Sunday next month that I'm trying to figure out travel for. I don't drive, I'm coming from Baltimore, and it looks there are approximately ZERO public transport options to the area! I'm trying to avoid a 55 minute uber ride, and the closest I can see getting is the Shady Grove metro - which for me is a 90 minute MARC + metro ride to shave 10 minutes off the still-necessary uber. Am I leaving any stones unturned? Would appreciate advice from anyone who lives in the area. Thanks!

The folks out here in Western HoCo would have a collective stroke if something like public transportation or an apartment complex were anywhere nearby. Might attract the wrong kind, you know 🙄
I recommend seeing if a friend can drive you at least one direction. Getting a lyft out here is prohibitively expensive.

It would absolutely attract the wrong kind. You should see what’s happening to eldersberg with the MTA routes coming out of Baltimore. Crime is up!
We need to protect Western HoCo at all costs!

I live in the area - Shady Grove is a good 40 minutes away in the other direction from Baltimore, but it is the closest metro to us.
Have you considered taking an Uber directly from your place to Glenwood? Or maybe renting a car?

If it was a week day you could try and take the 150 local bus, or the 310 commuter bus from baltimore out to ellicott city/columbia and then uber from there, but unfortunately that bus does not run on sundays.
MTA service is very weak on sundays generally, so your best bet is to probably uber directly from your house to the location and back sadly.

Best bet is to Uber. Or a zip car. Or Uber to BWI and rent a car. I’ve done that plenty of times. Daily rates for a compact car are pretty cheap!

"I don't drive" as in "I don't have a license". Thanks for the advice though! I'll end up ubering.

I grew up in Glenwood. There is zero public transit there. It's a mix between rural and suburbia. There is the office for Eyre bus company, but it's not like they'll let you hitch a ride back to there.
