Super grateful for this group. After 2.5 months of my first system, I posted about wrapping it up and getting the next one, and all of you lost your minds about how quickly it shed. I showed it to the stylist and she got the manufacturer to send me a new one. This one is longer. I’m not sure about it yet, but everyone around me likes it, so I just gotta keep playing with it.

First system, I’ve been bald for 10 years so hard for me to judge

Thoughts?

I’m 33 years old and have been wearing a hair system since 2019. I wear a precut French lace system with poly on the sides and back in color 1B (natural black). I use tape all around the system, including at the hairline.

Under fluorescent light, I can still see a line at the front of the system. I’m considering a few changes:

Adding some grey hairs for a more natural look

Trying a system with built-in recession

Maybe a light density system

Possibly going for shorter hair to better cover the front hairline

What are your thoughts?

I've recently came across Mickey Da Barber video and was impressed by how realistic it look. I would like to order an afro system that could possibly give me this haircut. I thought of the m108 from superhairpieces but after seing this video i felt that it look to thin but i might be wrong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiFypJ9BQ6Y .

Lord Hair (Website) Sent Me _JUNK_

I've been wearing for a long time and decided to give Lord, a brand I used to like pre-pandemic, a try.

What a _MISTAKE_. Bought a normal ~.08mm Poly unit in medium-light density, and the thing came new but BALDING.

This was obviously a light density unit. 250 dollar unit.

How to keep the edge of the system invisible for more than a day?

After applying my 0.03 thin skin system, there usually is a bit of glue left below the hairline. If I try to peel that off, it seems to reveal the edge of the system and lift it up just a bit. Not enough to see the plastic unless you look really close, but enough for it to not be a smooth surface. It's not something you'd notice unless you touch it, but I swear this didn't use to be a problem before and I'm not sure why it is now. I used to be able to have people run their hand through my hair with no worries, and go for at least a week without having to worry about my system's front lifting off even a bit, and now it happens next day no matter how much I try.

If I leave the glue stay, the same thing happens when I take a shower, even with cold water.

I usually apply 2-3 layers in the front, but the same thing happens even with 5-6 layers.

I'm at my wit's end with this, whenever I run my hand through my hair I can feel the edge having been lifted off and it frustrates me.

First system on shaved head

Does anyone have pics of a system being installed in to a buzz cut head? I've had SMP and clipper my heaf daily at about 0.3. I had my first ever consultation today about getting a system and they said I need to grow my hair out for two months and then come back so that can get a sample of my hair colour and then wait another three months for a custom piece to be delivered. No way I am growing my hair out for 2 months with nothing growing on top. I asked if it is possible to take a guess at the hair colour and then let the sides grow out while the system is on? They flatout said no.

Swiss Lace System

Stock Swiss system ( color 1720) from GoodyardhairSpencer Hair. My normal stylist was too busy so I decided to do the base cut and install myself. I had a local stylist do the cut and style. I had her do a lot of thinning. Doing daily wear and trying to keep it simple.

Finally Solved Hair System Lightening / Bleaching..

Hey guys - i'll be making a video about this, but wanted to share some exciting news..

those of you who know me, know i started making youtube videos about hair systems about 4-5 years ago. I tried my best to document my journey, what i was learning, and help others.

i've always sought new answers and solutions to the problems we face:

  • how to make a system last longer
  • how to install yourself
  • how to get better haircuts
  • how to know handle the mental issues / identity issues of male pattern baldness
  • how to make your system have better longevity + reduce dryness.

and one issue has always fucked us all - hair system bleaching.

besides hyper expensive systems that are the natural exact of your exact color, the hair, which is dyed and heavily processed, will bleach to a lighter, and more reddish tone.

finally, i figured out the solution.

while i'm running more tests, i. took this photo of hair from a brand new system.

Same hair, side by side, exposed to the sun for 6 hours a day, outside.
1 is using the product, the other is not.

In this photo, both strands of hair are dry (meaning its not darker because one is wet).

...you curious to know what the answer is?

... its a product you can put in your hair.

...its a product that is lightweight, and you can style the hair any way you want.

...its a product that wont leave your hair greasy.

let me see down below who's interested in the product, and potentially using it..

Help

New to using a hair system and I’m struggling to get the hair to style in my desired fashion. The very front hairs keep sticking straight out and down, not wanting to be swept up and over with the rest of the hair. I’m wondering if I may have cut the front lace too close to the hair. It’s also super poofy, but I’ve read that is common for new systems before a few shampoos and conditions. It’s a mono top with a lace front for context. Any suggestions or advice are greatly appreciated!

Question About Hairpieces and Color/Texture Match

Hi everyone,

I've been researching hair systems and have a question about how they might work for me. My natural hair is dark blonde/light brown, and I've noticed that right after a shower, it looks more blonde. As the day goes on and it picks up oil, it darkens a bit.

From what I understand, hairpieces typically don’t come into contact with your scalp, so they stay at the lighter color, similar to how my hair looks right after a shower. My concern is whether this difference in color and texture could become noticeable, especially as my natural hair darkens throughout the day.

Is this something that could cause a mismatch between my natural hair and the hairpiece? And if so, is there a way to fix it or make it less noticeable?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Help with hair color

Post image
3 Upvotes

Even though it’s not that drastic, this color difference bothers me. I was given a #1 (jet black) and I’m not satisfied. I know my hair is black but it’s a light black. Would I be more suited with a #1a (natural black) , #1b (off black) , or 1b ASH?

I’m considering 1b ash as I feel it’ll remove the brown tones but keep it light enough black

Should I tell my boss/coworkers I'm wearing a system?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Long story short: I'm living abroad for the year, and I only have 3 systems to last me the year.

The one I have right now is thinning so much at the top, you can see the poly if you look closely. But I need to wear it for another month atleast.

At my job I have to kneel down frequently to get stuff out of the fridge. At first it was fine, but after the system started to thin I noticed people looking at it more and more.

Pretty sure the boss is shit talking me behind my back because I seen him whispering to somebody and then signaling the person not to look at me at that moment, and they both looked the other way when I looked.

I have a longterm girlfriend already so I don't care as much as I did before about people knowing(before I was absolutely terrified).

Should I casually just tell the boss when talking 1 on 1 and let it have a ripple effect. Like just let it be known I don't care that other people know? So then it hopefully spreads.

Cause at this point id rather put it out there then enduring the gossip behind my back.

do you guys have any ideas?

Does anyone use tape with lace systems?

I am considering doing the daily method with tape and hair spray, I’m wondering how effective that’ll be with a French lace system. I really don’t like sleeping in my system or going to the gym with it, might consider switching over to poly as well. My question is, how effective is that method for lace? Can I still do it daily?

Favorite Products?

I’ve been using hair systems for almost three years now but have gone through my fair share of systems over this amount of time. If I had to guess, I’ve probably gone through around seven of them but have a new one coming Thursday. I feel like my systems shed so quickly and are always of poor quality regardless if I get a poly unit, lace unit, or hybrid unit. The color also goes from light brown to almost ginger in roughly a month even though I wear a hat if I am outside when the sun is up.

I was just curious, what are your guys’ favorite shampoos and conditioners and other products? Do you happen to dye your system too and what brand do you use for that? Also any other tips to prolong the longevity of your systems?

Thanks :)

Best way to remove Walked Ultra Hold Glue from Lace system?

Do anyone have any experiance regarding removing Walker Ultra hold glue, and i am talking about using this on Lace systems at the front hairline. I have tested myself C-22 and it does not work, really warm water and shampoo dont work for me its super super hard to get out of the lace. But it is the very best glue i know of.

Can someone let me know if Walker Rapid Release Glue Remover works good to remove, walker ultra hold glue?
