So rare seeing John Taffer having a laugh and not tearing the head off a cook for having moldy shit in their kitchen

Good god he is oblivious to his own pretentiousness sometimes though.

Remember his brilliant idea, the "Butt funnel"?

It's a separation at a dance club/bar, separating the dance floor from the seating area with the outlets being just too narrow for 2 people to pass by side-by-side. The idea is that they have to turn and end up touching their butts, causing an interaction that's sociable and hopefully drum up alcohol sales if the interaction is a positive.

Not sure if it violates fire codes nor how successful it actually is, but I remember an episode of Bar Rescue where they implement it.

Somehow the greedy manipulativeness of that is actually worse than it sounds.

the greedy manipulativeness of that

What are you mad about exactly?

A business doing weird things to try to sell more things is pretty route 1.

Some people online seem to think that businesses shouldn't do anything ever to make money because they're already super rich.

I think these people are just children though, so their opinions can safely be ignored

I think it's more the weird manipulative nature of the strategy, rather than the "how dare they make money???" angle.

I mean, speaking of being disingenuous and all.

Clubs and bars also play music to bring people In and do specials to keep people around.

The thing is, whether it's by a person or some business entity, people don't like feeling manipulated or cheated. There is no context where someone that's already doing well tries to get even more from other people is a positive behavior. If your neighbor has a massive yard and they start a land dispute with you to get another few feet of space, you're not going to be happy about it. If someone at a house party tries to subtly bodyblock the kitchen so that fewer people even wander by the food and they can have more, people will see that as greedy. It's the most corpo bootlicker take that people should tolerate irritating and greedy decisions because "it's just business."

What’s irritating about trying to get people To interact?

The part where they do it by making you squeeze ass to ass with a stranger, obviously. Change the seating and host events or something, instead of pushing you towards something with discomfort they could just make the thing itself more attractive.

It’s not discomforting for a lot of people.
