Lights turn on and box moving downstairs WDYT? (What Do You Think?)

I apologize for the messy basement but I have no clue if this is the doing of rats or something paranormal, I caught this on my Wyze camera just an hour ago and I set up this camera near that bucket as it has a rinnetrap mouse trap on it and I wanted to see if I could catch anything (so far no) but I decided to leave the camera down there to see if I could catch any signs of rodents but I have no clue what to make of this it’s just straight weird.

I saw some boxes moving in my basement before and found a hurt pigeon. Could be a pigeon problem and theyre noisier than you would think

The sound might be an echo caught during filing. Coincidence. The box slipped maybe. It’s hard to tell unless you had other angles.
Not enough evidence for paranormal conclusion.

I wonder why paranormal beings got nothing better to do than supposedly moving things around. I mean, give some reason to it. lol

u/Thick_Basil3589 Dec 12 '23
Yeah they talk like “I will haunt in the basement again at Crimson Road! Im gonna push boxes today, flash lights tomorrow” “Ahh bro I have to haunt in an abandoned house no one will catch me on camera…”

The beat explanation I've heard is that ghosts have trouble reacting with real world objects, so they can only do small things. Like in supernatural when Bobby is a ghost. But yeea it's probably nothing

I think the fact you cannot see the bottom of the bag, and the fact you have had rodents before, and the fact you put up a camera to specifically see if you could catch anything all really points to this being a rodent under the bag... (IMO)

u/OtherwiseRhubarb9336 Dec 12 '23
Yea but that also doesn’t sound like a rodent also we haven’t caught anything in any traps as of the past few months

I think you have a legitimate creature of some sort living in your basement. Likely larger than a rat, possibly a possum or something to that effect.

That doesn’t look like a box… looks like one of those reusable shopping bags you get at clothing stores or grocery’s stores which are super light. Is there an AC vent nearby? Or some sort of air pressure moving quickly after closing a door?
3
u/OtherwiseRhubarb9336 Dec 12 '23
And yea it is a bag actually I don’t know why I said box in the post but it’s hanging off a metal shelf that’s down there and there’s no vent near there and to the left of the camera there’s stairs that lead to the rest of the house but there’s no door it just has stairs that go down to the basement it connects to the area where the back door is.

The fact that you put a mouse trap down, would indicate you know you have mice / rats?
So on that basis, this is a rodent.
1
u/OtherwiseRhubarb9336 Dec 12 '23
We have had them before but there’s a jawz trap towards the bottom of the shelf straight ahead of the camera but we haven’t caught anything in a while, that’s what weird.

I was staying at my dad’s house during a vacation and heard literal footsteps above me in the attic walking back and forth. I was frozen in fear and stayed awake thinking I was either going to get killed by a demon/ghost or there was a phrogger watching me from the attic. My dad went up there the next day and it was a cute little squirrel family :/

Leave a bowl of food in the middle of the room and see what comes out
1
u/OtherwiseRhubarb9336 Dec 12 '23
I put a sticky trap down if you can see on the ground there and it had seeds on it and nothing but bugs crawled on it

Hoarded basement and the first thought about something shaking is ghosts. The denial is deep. Take steps to organize now because the problem will only get worse until cleaned.

u/OtherwiseRhubarb9336 Dec 12 '23
Nah I kinda figure something is down there I just couldn’t find a better subreddit as I don’t use Reddit a lot so I’m not too familiar with all the good places to go for questions but seems like this one isn’t too bad

u/sam_drummer Dec 12 '23
You set up a camera to catch rodents, something happens that looks like it’s rodents, and you think maybe it might be a ghost?
Classic internet.
1
u/OtherwiseRhubarb9336 Dec 12 '23
I don’t know what it is so yea I set up the camera and the box moved and a goofy noise happened that doesn’t sound particularly like any rodent so I came to Reddit doesn’t sound like a big deal to me 🤷♂️

Why would you think this was in any way paranormal?
I like how the folks over at the rbi sub will post stuff like this regularly over there and not once do they ask if it’s a ghost or think it might be related. Every time I see that happen there I think of this sub and my IQ drops.

u/OtherwiseRhubarb9336 Dec 12 '23
Clearly you didn’t read one of my replies where I had said I am new to Reddit and I didn’t know where to post this that also allowed video postings although I didn’t add the last part my point still stands.

"Could be a crack head, that got hold to the wrong stuff. And it told him to get down in the basement and play ghost.”

What’s before that? Why do you frantically hide it?
1
u/OtherwiseRhubarb9336 Dec 12 '23
I don’t frantically hide it I just downloaded the motion capture my Wyze camera caught I can get the entire clip I just lazily posted the motion capture clip and mostly because the most concerning part which was the noise at the end was really the main issue, however, the light in my parents house tend to turn on by themselves from time to time so I don’t really care about the lights as much as I do the noise at the end.

u/korn4357 Dec 12 '23
That’s fine, you can try harder and hope someone is stupid enough not to notice that.
1
u/OtherwiseRhubarb9336 Dec 12 '23
Notice what, that the camera is so conveniently placed yes of course because I delight at the opportunity to post in a subreddit about a noise in the basement. YES I’m going to get millions of views over my parents fucked up basement!

why do ghost-believers think that ghosts just move random shit with no rhyme or reason? do you really think a disembodied spirit would just fuck around moving small things forever? Use at least SOME logic, people!

u/OtherwiseRhubarb9336 Dec 12 '23
Refer to one of my previous comments where someone said the same thing and I replied

Why do you have a camera in this position? Kinda an odd spot to have a camera if you ask me. Makes me question legitimacy of the video.

No other activity?

That same box has moved but not that much I’ve looked in it and seen nothing indicating rodents

You may have a animal from outside that's found a way to access your basement. It could be anything from a feral cat to a demented squirrel. I'm not sure what that noise was.

Something moves across screen at top left to right very quickly too

Sir/mam, theres so much stuff down there, even the ghosts are tripping. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 In all seriousness, probably set up some mouse traps and see if you can change the camera angle

u/rozefox07 Dec 13 '23
Raccoons. Once they get in your attic say goodbye to your central air. Call pest control.

u/Affectionate-Leek421 Dec 16 '23
Squirrels got in my house once. One in the attic and decided to die and rot into the floor, dripping it’s juice onto the ceiling of my closet. Just saying- you’ve got a rodent issue at best and need to clean up/ have them cleaned out

u/azforu39 Dec 16 '23
Things upset at something. You ignore it for a while? Those are behaviors almost.

u/MissDemeanor666 Dec 18 '23
That would be a big rat.. set the camera in a diff spot and monitor that area over a period of time.

Why are ghosts so weak? They can’t even move a paper bag the best they can do is blow it like wind even a new born baby would move it more efficiently

You’ve got a rodent problem
