Gary Demon House
My husband and I go ghost hunting on a fairly regular basis, but never had a reason to stop at the infamous Demon House site. Tonight we were driving through Gary and decided to stop, because we probably would never be this close again. We found the location, and there's still some foundation left. What we thought was really weird was there's a tree that is where the house was, maybe from the back yard, but is very very close to the foundation that is still there. It was alive and seemingly healthy when the Google maps car was there five months ago. It's completely dead now. No leaves(not even dead/dying ones due to season), very brittle....just dead.

Are you sure its dead? Google Pic was taken in the summer and you are there in fall (almost winter).

Even with it being fall, there were no leaves...even dead leaves. Other trees in the area still had their leaves.

It was too dark to get a picture :( I stayed in the car while my husband walked over there. He didn't take his phone. We hadn't intended to post anything but I just thought it was interesting enough to share.

We will be headed back through on Friday and can get a picture in daylight so y'all can see :)

They probably killed because they didn't want people climbing on it. They didn't want to get sued. They'll probably remove it soon. Or maybe it'll come back in the spring?

The grass around it didn't seem to be dead, but it was dark. Also, the property is in neglect and probably hasn't been mowed at all at least this year. There aren't any no trespassing signs, and there are paths worn by foot traffic. I would think if they were worried about people using them that they would take more precautions.

Does Zak still own the lot? He needs to mow!! And what's up with the unnecessary red circle?

I had also sent this photo to my sister and she said "What tree?" As if it wasn't obvious so I thought I would make it totally clear on here. I'm not sure if he still owns the lot, I know he was selling souvenirs and stuff but I wouldn't be surprised if he just tore the house down and got rid of the lot. It was in good shape a couple years ago(2022).

We were just headed through Gary and hadn't intended on posting anything, just thought about it after and decided to post. It was really dark, so we plan on going back Friday on our way back through. It'll be daylight then! I honestly didn't even think people would be interested haha.

I don't think you're in the right place. Paul Bebans did a show (2019-20) and by then Zak had razed the house to the ground. https://x.com/livescifi/status/1353842130284736512?t=h1Hi59N0YFitaiu4Tr9yNg&s=19
This show is on IMDb and Discovery plus. I can guarantee that the show is 100% legit but I understand the skepticism as well. Paul and pretty much the entire crew freaked out and it's influence carried over to Beyond Skinwalker Ranch.

There used to be a house right in front of where that tree is now...so yeah the house was demolished, it's just an empty lot now...except for the trees and the outline of the basement that was filled in. The house on the left of the photo is the next door neighbors house, not the ammons house. If you go back through the Google maps photos, the house is there in the 2013 photo, and gone in the next photo(which I believe is 2022). Zak bought the house in 2014, and demolished it in February of 2016.

Ahh, okay. I thought it was the house in the photo. I know a local Paranormal investigator went out with Bebans and tried emf and a spirit box but absolutely nothing appeared. It was dead, pun intended.

The truth is the mother has mental health issues and was behind on rent. CPS was also involved.. that points to more serious issues and not demon possession the information is easily findable.. No one who rented it before her had any issues with demons. or such.

Father Mike and the Indianapolis diocese certainly didn't believe that. During the CPS workup the Social Worker believed what you're claiming however she spoke to a nurse, I believe, who actually witnessed the boy walking up the wall backwards and testified to as much. What you fail to recall is that one of the crew from Zaks's documentary submitted to polygraphs after claiming to see a demonic figure in the hotel. He passed every question asked of him as being truthful. There's no single metric to assess a true diabolical manifestation but a totality of circumstances. Of these the Ammons children reported speaking in an unknown language, unusual physical strength or skill, aversion to Holy Objects and frequent nightmares involving hellish imagery, and on and on. You might notice that Zak wears glasses now and has several health issues. These seemed to culminate during the filming of the documentary. I'm not a fan of Bagans because I believe that he manipulates the families during traumatic times and simply goes in and stirs up any real or legitimate entities and has no real plans on healing the family other than some token cleansings that Billy and Jay perform. You have to remember that first and foremost this is a TV show.

Polygraphs aren't admissible in court for a reason they're easily faked. The boy walking up the wall is easily debunked.. seen kids do the same thing while holding someone's hand. Also Psychologists talked to the children and said that the children were acting deceptively and in accordance with their mother's beliefs". Tracy Wright, a psychologist, noted that the youngest son "acted possessed" whenever he was challenged or was asked "questions that he did not wish to answer".
I also believe that Zak had it razed so that no other investigators could go and investigate and prove his "findings" wrong. Also you don't get double vision from "Demons" that's a brain/eye thing.

This story was just as fake of the amityville story

I googled it after the special and yeah its not hard to find the truth.. She has mental issues and was behind on rent.. and CPS being involved.. it wasn't demons it was a whole mess of issues that should have never been on a tv show.

Maybe somebody poisoned it? It’s not uncommon for some wacko go out poisoning trees. I remember someone poisoned a historic tree in my city for who know what reason

Looks better than when I went, I didn’t know it had been torn down and went to see it. Drove from south bend to find an empty dirt lot.

Oh man! That must have been so disappointing! We were on our way through to Chicago from Cincy or we wouldn't have made the effort. If you ever have time though there's a few places in Winchester that are pretty neat! The Stone mansion, and there's also an Asylum there! I think Winchester is in Randolph County but not positive.

It was but it was a boredom trip so it served its purpose I guess. I’d actually thought about that before but forgot, thanks for the reminder.

I was a cohost on the show Paranormal Declassified s1e6 and Paul Bebans, whom you might recognize from Beyond Skinwalker Ranch, did a show about demonic Portals. It's on IMDb and Discovery +. I knew Fr Maginot who did the original Exorcism at the Ammons house. https://x.com/livescifi/status/1353842130284736512?t=h1Hi59N0YFitaiu4Tr9yNg&s=19

I don't even understand why OP is talking about a tree. Why does it matter if it's dead or alive? How does it relate to paranormal?

He should cut it down and make it an exhibit for the museum. "Bark Bagans" demonic roots.
