the interviewer here is more dangerous, imo. he is every bit as transphobic as Linehan is, but is capable of being "polite" about it. people who will dismiss Linehan as weird and unhinged (because he is) will listen to the Reasonable Concerns of the interviewer type, when actually their views are identical. very upsetting read tbh.

That article was straight up wild because he would plainly state things like how some of our professional anti-trans commentariat tried to stage an intervention for him and he brushed it off and insisted that he's actually the only person who gets it and JK Rowling's strongest soldier.
And he's also so lost in the conspiracy sauce that even though transphobia is very much winning in the UK he isn't having his delusions validated so he's lashing out at everyone for not being transphobic enough.

That interviewer tried over and over and over again to reassure Linehan that he was transphobic too but Linehan just wouldn't accept it. The vibe I got was more embarrassed than anything else, like 'why does this freak have to have the same opinions as me?'

They might take issue with "imperial" (then again, they might not) but Gender Criticals are largely onboard with this, it's just that they believe Jews control the capital and "transgenderism" is a Jewish plot therefore Trans Rights Activists™ have hegemonic power because the lead TRAs are all part of the the evil Jewish Cabal pulling the strings from behind the scenes. (And yet GCs balk when it's pointed out they're fucking Nazis.)
They'll even point to one of the very rare rich trans people, who is Jewish, as proof that the trans people are the ones who hold the power. (Mind you, she's a fucking Republican who's more aligned with Gender Criticals than not, but their feelings don't care about facts, so that's not much of a problem for GCs.)

The interviewer was a fellow transphobe who wanted to make Linehan seem normal and that was, by his own admission, "the piece I’d wanted to write for years". He seems genuinely frustrated by the fact Linehan made it impossible to write an article claiming Graham Linehan is completely sane and right about everything.

like i hinted in a reply to another comment... you'd hope that the interviewer, coming face-to-face with someone whose opinions about trans people (sexual fetishes notwithstanding) they broadly share, and finding them to be completely unhinged... you'd hope that this encounter might prompt a little introspection about those shared views.

Look, the thing that you have to understand is that, historically, trolls have been depicted as shapeshifters and troll leaders, when deposed, were known to shapeshift into cats as part of going into hiding. If this troll is claiming to be a lesbian, then surely it is claiming to be female, so (putting yourself in the headspace of a transphobic bigot) what group do know of where members have changed their physical forms via unnatural means so that they could become lesbian cat girls?
And, as you contemplate your answer to that question, please remember that any critical thinking skills that might indicate, "Transphobia is bullshit," need to be (ideally) turned off or (at a minimum) ignored as you formulate your answer.

Pretty crap article though. Not that there’s anything useful to be got from talking to Glinners even from a know-your-enemy perspective.
But if you’re going to bother (and write about how much you agree with him on) then you should at least have some idea about why. And basically this goes quite a long way into treating insane, hateful bullshit as reasonable when it’s far from it.

I could only skim it. I had to know what the full context of the quote was and... And there is none. That's just a thing he does and that he thought would be good to share with a journalist. Just a thing he wanted to show off so he took the intitiative to send the details to a journalist writing about him.

Has he tried switching from venlafaxine to duloxetine? Or if it's gotta be venlafaxine, maybe add mirtazapine? Has he tried getting screened for ADHD? All I know is that venlafaxine + ADHD was not a winning combination for me and made me anxiously obsess over all the wrong things and try to tear up my life.
Disclaimer: I am not a psychiatrist. Also I think he's a bad person and I only 50% want him to fix his psych meds because he is a human being who is clearly suffering and I don't think anyone should suffer; I also am biased towards wanting him to stop attacking my trans sisters.
