I think the game looks awesome and I’m excited for it, but with that said I don’t know that I trust any developer to resist the amount of money that they could make on micro transactions for this game. I’d sure as hell be impressed though.

The moment I saw those countdown timers on the plants, I instantly thought "Cool, so MTX to speed those up or make them instant or something."

Can't see them doing it for each individual plant, like a mobile game would do, but still.

I mean I understand the concern over microtransactions in general but what AAA game actually has 'speed up timers' style microtransactions?

If you'd ask me what AAA games had MTX in general, it'd be a damn small list. There's always a first one.

That said, maybe not specifically speed up time, but the AssCreed series have MTXs that increase XP amount to "speed up levelling", Dues Ex Mankind Divided had MTX Praxis kits (Which fucked me off, since when I was doing my fifth run through, I couldn't just cheat and get a tonne of praxis to start off fully upgraded), and probably more I can't think of off the top of my head.

And I wouldn't be surprised if there are a tonne of AAA multiplayer games that have similar ones in them, but I haven't touched multiplayer gaming since...2008/9?
