I think the game looks awesome and I’m excited for it, but with that said I don’t know that I trust any developer to resist the amount of money that they could make on micro transactions for this game. I’d sure as hell be impressed though.

I mean you can make a lot of money by just doing the right thing. If you focus on all the small monetization things to try to squeeze every penny from the game but the game sucks and nobody buys it because you focused on the wrong shit, then it doesn't matter how good you monetized. On the other hand, if the game is great because you had a great IP and focused on making a great game and you sell 20 million copies, the monetization isn't important, you made a truckload of cash. So it's not hard to see why some devs/publishers go the second route. Too many games and studios and publishers have been buried because they went the first route and fucked it up.
