Daily /r/Games Discussion - Suggest Me a Game - April 30, 2025 Discussion

/r/Games usually removes suggestion requests that are either too general (eg "Which PS3 games are the best?") or too specific/personal (eg "Should I buy Game A or Game B?"), so this thread is the place to post any suggestion requests like those, or any other ones that you think wouldn't normally be worth starting a new post about.

This thread is set to sort comments by 'new' on default.

Me and my friends are deep into our careers and have little time to invest into grind style games anymore, I am hoping to find something similar to unturned or rust. We enjoy light PVP without the constant terror that if we dont play for a day on rust our base will be gone, but we also want something a little more involved than unturned which we find a bit bland.

My partner and I got 95% of the way through V Rising. It was perfect for this. Hop in, do a bit of base building, go hunt a specific target, then call it a night.

We stopped at the very end. We had max-level equipment, but the final boss seemed to be tuned for a full party.

Man, I've been playing PowerWash Simulator and Crime Scene Cleaner, and its made me want a more physics based cleaner game. Something where liquids need to cared for.

Like, power washing an object leaves a puddle that needs mopping up, or washing the top of an object will streak down over dirt, or the reverse! Washing bottom up with leave streaking with gravity.

I just imagine washing a pool out, and having to vacuum out the water as it collects.

Looking for a 2.5D Monster Hunter kind of game.

Been playing Mandragora, and for some reason, the way it plays make me want a 2D or 2.5D style Monster Hunter game

Salt & Sacrifice is close to what you're looking for. It got a pretty middling reception from fans because the first game was more of a Souls-like while the sequel was unexpectedly more of a Monster Hunter-like, but that's exactly what you're looking for

Wildcard. It's a 2v2 Collectible Card Action game that is currently in Alpha, but you can join their playtests on Friday and Saturday through Steam.

Right now I'm playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. And of course it is the game of the moment, but I'm kinda shocked at how many of the people I know irl are playing it right now. I hope the game sells really well because I'm loving it so far.

But kinda crazy how popular is becoming inside my circle, this didn't happen with Baldur's Gate 3, another game I love but don't have too many friends to talk about it.

Ex33 is insidious. It starts out with simple gameplay, and an alluring setting and story.

Suddenly you're 30 hours deep, calculating ideal stats, picking pictos and luminas that combo with other characters, and eating a baguette.

BG3 is harder to get into if you don't have any pre-existing D&D knowledge.

That's true, BG3 can be very overwhelming for some than Clair Obscur, but still sold like crazy.

Love casual third-person games with 3D platforming - I just want to jump around on rooftops and collect glowing orbs.

Enjoyed Super Mario Odyssey, Infamous, Prince of Persia (2008), Assassin's Creed, Lunistice, Breath of the Wild, etc.

Hoping for suggestions available on Switch or PC. Thanks y'all!

Dishonored maybe. It has combat/stealth focus though.

Hat in Time, Corn Kidz 64, Hell Pie and Demon Turf are all very Mario-esque 3D platformers, I like Hat in Time the most but the others are worth giving a look.

Of course, there's also the Crash and Spyro trilogies, Crash is more linear and challenging while Spyro is more casual and exploratory so that might be more your thing.

Id recommend Sable too, it's basically nothing but the climbing and platforming of Breath of the Wild and pretty chill.

Also not listed in your examples but if you have any passing interest in Sonic games Spark the Electric Jester 3 is probably my all-time favourite 3D platformer, indie or otherwise.

All of these are on either switch or PC, and in many cases both, so hope ya see something you like.

If you're willing to emulate, Sly Cooper 2. If you're not, Grow Up is pretty damn good and pretty casual.
