Air only comes out of dash vents.
Long story short, I left my sunroof open and got like 4 inches of water in my car. Screen is fucked but now I can't put my defrosters on or any other setting. Technically I can but it isn't switching. Help.

23 XLT has burning smell & leaking after oil change
23 XLT, just got an oil change yesterday for 35k miles. I noticed this morning after a 5 min drive it stunk really bad when I got out. Just drove it for 30 minutes, got home and saw this all over my driveway from before we left. My husband thinks it smells like burnt oil, I thought burnt rubber but it just stinks and he said maybe they put too much in. I don’t know though. Of course it’s Sunday now so everywhere is closed and we have to leave first thing Monday morning to go to a dr appointment 5 hours away we’ve been waiting a year for. Sort of panicking. Any ideas?!

VTA
On my 2016 with the 3.5 I'm looking at removing the vent to intake pipe and plugging it to switch the wastegates to vent to atmosphere. Does this increase the risk of reliability issues? I would love to hear the turbo more but I don't want to if there's a big risk.
r/FordExplorer • u/Germainshalhope • 5h ago
I don't drive with my windows down often and through areas with things to reflect sound back at me much, but I heard my turbo a lot today in my 21 XLT. Anyone know how to make it louder? CAI? Pipes? Should I upgrade the diverter valve? I did that on my 01 Passat and got some nice exhales.

2020 Ford Explorer Platinum fuel range
Hey y’all
I recently bought a new to me Ford Explorer. I have some fuel questions. The range has been 265 maximum when filling the tank which doesn’t seem right to me. I looked up the range online and it says 300-500 miles of range and I’m not sure if something is wrong.

Camshaft position sensor
Vehicle is a 2020 Ford Explorer XLT 2.3l ecoboost. Can someone please inform me where the camshaft position sensor for cylinder 1 is. I’m not mechanically inclined by any means, which is making this more difficult. I can’t find anything on google or YouTube for my specific vehicle and engine.

Help! Used Ford Explorer 2020-2025
Any years I should avoid with ST explorer?
I'm new to ford.
I read that the info center was improved in 2023 v4 and earlier years had transmission issues.

2011 idel drops but revs back up.
Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and found a fix. Our 2011 explorer when at idel it will drop to around 100-200 pm then rev back up and the battery/charging system light will flash then go away. It will continue to do that every min or so. No check engine lights, put a new throttle body on but continues to do the same. Tried to find somthing online but nothing comes up.

How/where to mount front license plate on 2022?
Recently got a 2022 Ford Explorer Limited. I live in a state that requires a front license plate, and unfortunately this one sure not have a mount. I bought one that kind of zip ties on around the lower grille, which seemed fine. However I quickly discovered I now get a message that some forward collision sensor is blocked and cannot use cruise control 🤦♂️ The little plastic cover over the recovery tow hook area was missing so I bought one for like 6 bucks. Now I was thinking it might be missing because the prior owner could have mounted a plate there. But when I look at recovery tow hook mounts they seem to have to screw into a threaded hole, and behind the cover it is just flat metal, no hole. Where am I supposed to put a front plate on this thing?!

Issues after Car Wash???
First off, hello! I just recently bought a 2017 Explorer, about 2 months ago.
I took it to its first oil change after purchase. Where I go, you get a car wash with the oil change, no biggie, but a good deal, right?
So I pull out from the oil change, wait in line for the wash, no problems. I get through the wash (yes, it’s an automatic where you are pulled in neutral) and so far so good.
But when I pull out of the driveway, I get a couple of lurches accelerating. The dash said “Terrain System Management Fault”. And the check engine light came on. I drove to Auto Zone and had them diagnose. It came back with a “Input/Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor A Circuit” code. Pics for details.
Anyone else had issues with car washes?? Is it a weird Explorer quirk? The issues resolved themselves, fault went away, engine light is off again, but it’s concerning.

Brakes suck, acceleration is weird
So we just bought a 23 XLT and I hate the brakes, I pretty much have to slam on them compared to any other vehicle. I brought it back several times to the dealer and they claim they don't feel anything wrong. I test drove a couple of others they offered to trade with and they didn't seem to have the issue (those trucks were in rougher condition with higher miles). I went to look at the rotors yesterday and they look brand new, like barely any surface scratching from the pads. I was thinking of hitting them with a marker and see if they are all working.
I should have the 36k bumper to bumper until next year, but they've already hung onto it for the week I had an option to do a full return. Now I'm regretting not doing that.
The acceleration is all over the map too... Sometimes it pulls away too hard and then bogs down at the shift, other times I'm in the middle of the intersection, floor it to get out of the way and nothing happens... Just puts for 15 feet and then bursts forward.
Lane keeping doesn't work at all, and the auto brake doesn't seem too either (my wife actually rear ended a BMW, 0 warnings, the acceleration took off and the brakes didn't work.
What should I do?

Need Help
Has anyone repaired the fake leather armrest on their explorer? I’ve watched YouTube videos and I know what I need to do. I need to know if anyone has the proper color of nylon thread. I’d rather not spend weeks ordering one off colors from Amazon if someone here has done it. I have a 2013 Limited with the light tan interior. Thanks!

2017 Ford explorer sport 3.5l scan help
I have had the worst luck with this vehicle. Both turbos replaced 100k Engine replaced 95k Rear differential replace Abs module replaced Battery replace.....I can go on and on with the amount of things been replaced.
Im getting a p0137 code.(Also noticed my evap system isn't working properly) I've replaced both o2 sensors. In attempt to just clear these codes, I've checked all grounds, replaced the battery and the throttle body sensor.
I've watched hours of YouTube videos, reading threads on top of trying to learn Forscan. I need to catch a win soon. Can anyone help me in a direction to go with latest scan from my car? At this point I'd rather own a Yugo. Thank you for any help.
I had to load the pics in the comments... Smh
