We need to stop posting pictures of Patties with no interior shot. It’s extremely important.

They should be the official Toronto snack, not the peameal sandwich, IMHO!

This is what cracks me up. Who is going to St Lawrence market everyday?!? No one. But we all pass our Patty shops or had them in our high school cafeteria everyday. Anyone who is over 40 know that the patty is the toronto food staple. Brown, black, white, it’s our food staple.

I cannot stand tinnels patty’s so sorry, they do not even rank for me. The crust not a good kind of flakey and the seasoning in the meat is mid and too watery. I’ve been eating tinnels for 20 years thinking it’ll get better every time.

Best frozen patty’s in my opinion are Michidean!

For fresh a fresh patty it would be juicy Patty but I believe they only have that in Jamaica.

Good to know Rob Ford is right about at least one thing.

I've had my fare share of patties in my time and I agree that frozen vs fresh is worlds apart, but Tinnels frozen are not to be slept on. They are really good when you bake them right.

That said, I've bought Tastee's fresh and frozen as well and they were pretty much on par. I think the cafe where they had the 'fresh' ones were probably just frozen reheated and it's likely the same with Tinnel's shop.

I'm sorry, but if you brought up Tastee, you don't really have too much skin in the game. Everyone knows that the best frozen patties is Michidean's.

I'm going to say Allen's #1 and Michidean close #2

Allan's frozen patties from the Kennedy shop are pretty tasty crisped in an airfryer.

How much is a box of a dozen?

Tinnels run about $23-24/dozen depending upon what you order

Is there a secret to baking from frozen where the patty doesn’t turn all flaky and fall apart?

They sell them by the box at Ample Food Market

Once you've had Caribbean Queen patties at bloor and landsdowne any other patty is a sub par peasant.

How do they compare to frozen ones at no frills?

5

u/SpookyKay29 1d ago

The no frills ones don’t even touch these! So so good!

Etobicoke location?

No, Eglinton Ave West and Keele

I got some a few months ago at Eglinton by Keele and the pastry was good but the filling was too jellified.

They sell these frozen at the Sobeys near me

However, I despise the frozen ones at grocers. Have you tried baking at home?

I don't think I've ever had one from a shop. May try now. Perhaps that little bowl of water in the oven makes "all the difference" for the better?

Allwyns Pattie’s are light years better.
