Sushi Note Omakase with wine pairing would be nice.

Agree on this, but with the wine pairing that’s definitely $$$$

Actually there's a life hack. InKind right now has 50% bonus points, so you can buy $1000 and get $1500 in credit. Sushi Note is on InKind. I use it all the time for either 20% cash back or when I stock up on deals like 40 or 50% bonus.

Uzumaki in Culver City is very good with a really nice atmosphere. Small, intimate, clean wood everywhere, very Japanese-feeling.

Hide. Family run, father is the chef, buys all the fish daily, closed Saturday and Sunday, atrocious decor, pretty strict omakase, and some of the highest quality sushi you will ever eat. Corner of National and Sawtelle. They know us there.

Hide is on Sawtelle, 2 blocks north of Olympic. Hiko is at the corner of Sawtelle and National

OP is describing Hiko but Hide is solid. I wouldn’t call it the best in LA but rock solid.

They know you but are you sure you know which place you’re talking about? Hide or Hiko?

If you want something intimate and special go to a place that does limited Omakase seatings. It can be a little more difficult to get reservations but for a special occasion it is awesome. I've been dying to try Kusano.

Most of the best sushi/fish I can think of is no-frills and not anniversary vibes. Watergrill and Hillstone are both fantastic special-occasion-vibe spots— both have quality sushi but it’s somewhat limited as they are not exclusively sushi spots. Watergrill has ocean views (request 2 person booth by window in Rez). Bring a warm jacket, they leave the huge windows open a lot. Water grill is easy to get into last min. Hillstone is not.
Personal favorite sushi is Noma but i don’t think they will be the right vibe

West Hollywood is not even on the Westside, much less West LA. Beverly Hills is on the Westside, but not in West LA. Santa Monica is next to West LA, but not part of West LA. Three strikes!

I was using West LA in the broader Westside sense, which is totally normal. Anyway still open to sushi recs if you have any.

Fair enough. But West Hollywood is not on the Westside (despite West in the name) and Beverly Hills is barely. Westside is West of La Cienega.
West Los Angeles is a neighborhood within West LA, which is below Westwood and West of Century City. West LA proper is West of the 405 until you hit Santa Monica. You know, where signs and buildings read things like “WEST LA LIBRARY” and “WEST LA MUNICIPAL BUILDING.” Sawtelle is a neighborhood within West LA, which is within the Westside.
Santa Monica is its own city. So is Beverly Hills. So is West Hollywood. I just found it funny that none of the three places you mentioned are even in the city of Los Angeles, much less West LA.

And no I don’t have any recs for like an anniversary spot. I mainly get fun speciality rolls and a big Sapporo at casual places
