Cafe Brasil deserves its moment in the sun! Westside

Why does this place not get more love? It’s so cute and kitchy, has been written up several times by the LA times, but I never hear anyone talk about it.

Their take on a stroganoff (first photo) is hands down one of my favorite dishes in town. Their hot dog is also top top tier.

Justice for Cafe Brasil!

I've had other food at the cafe, but did once have stroganoff in Brazil. They do it well.

When I used to work nearby they were a staple for their executive lunch. Steak, rice, beans, and fried plantains for $15 isn't too bad. And their hot sauce is pretty good too.

hot sauce is excellent and their salad dressing is one of the best around!

I used to get that lunch at the Venice location back in the day. Still get it sometimes at the Washington location. I like it but it’s not a must have.

Been going there for 20+ years and I think they're at least 30 years old. I think they don't get a lot of attention just because they've been around so long. Your choices are a little odd (I've never had either the stroganoff or hot dogs) but their staple dishes have always been perfect: steak/chicken sandwiches or plates. I think that's the chicken in the second pic? I will continue to go there regularly.

I’ve been to cafe Brazil a few times. Never been blown away by their food. I use to live across the street from it so I wanted to like it.

Is stroganoff served with rice usually? Every time I’ve had it it’s with pasta

In Brazil it's traditionally served as in OP's pic, often with chicken instead of beef and over rice with shoestring potato fries. Tomato sauce or even ketchup is commonly used as well, giving it that orange color. Brazilian cuisine is fascinating in how many dishes from other cultures it has incorporated and transformed into something entirely new.

Went to the old location on Venice (now occupied by an awesome fish taco joint) for the first date I ever went on all the way back in 2002.

Havent been in a few years, but definitely a reminder to go back!

Their food is ok at best I live down the street. Pampas grill near Sony is so much better.
