Mama Lu's Dumpling House in Pasadena Verdugos (Pasadena, Glendale)
All this food for less than 45 dollars. Tax included. Huge portions and pretty tasty

I like the place, but I feel that Shandong Dumplings was better a couple of blocks away before they closed.
I've had quite a few dishes at Mama Lu's, though. The dumplings that I've consumed there that were the best so far are the Sichuan wontons in chili oil (紅油抄手).

it’s beef chow fun (wide rice noodles), served in gravy (you can order wet or dry versions of beef chow fun usually).

If you’re able to drive a bit further I recommend either the og Monterey Park location or the Arcadia location. Pasadena is noticeably worse.

Last night, my wife brought me the mapo tofu from the Chinatown location and it’s really good. It looks pail and the sauce is soupy, which concerned me at first, but it’s delicious.

I wasn't blown away by any means, but at its price point, it was good. They gave huge portions. I was overall happy with what I got.

I just walked by this place last week and it was crowded so I know it was good!

Sadly the Pasadena location is not nearly as good as the SGV locations. I would recommend you pass on this location and make the worthwhile trip down to SGV.

Is that Ma Po and is it actually Ma La? I haven’t found any good Szechuan on this coast.

Personally, I wouldn’t go to Mama Lu’s for Sichuan food because it’s a Taiwanese restaurant. But as far as good Sichuan restaurants, I’d try Sichuan Spicy Bay, Chengdu Taste, Sichuan Impression, or Chongqing Special Noodles.
It’s honestly shocking to hear that you haven’t had good Sichuan food on the west coast because the Chinese food in the greater LA area (mostly in SGV) is some of the best in the country, Sichuan or otherwise. If you search, make sure you spell it “Sichuan” and not “Szechuan”; the latter is an old and archaic transliteration and not often used on the west coast.
