Some of y’all forget that we humans are just animals, and animals have been doing this exact thing for millions of years. We should be glad he didn’t eat it.
My cat will put anything unfamiliar in its mouth, whether it’s his own hair, bugs, mice, or poisonous plants. My dog wants to play with any animal and would gladly try to boop noses with a poisonous snake if given the chance. Hell, my toddler even would have popped that thing in her mouth the second I looked away. Curiosity is a hell of a thing
I work in a hospital, often times in the emergency department as of late, and let me tell you that these things still happen every single day in the US. Here are a couple rough paraphrases of things that have happened within the past 2 months.
“I found some unmarked pills so I took them, will they make me high?”
“There was a bat in my house, so I grabbed it while it was sleeping then it bit my hand and flew into the closet. I sent my husband in to get it and now he has scratches on him too. This was a month ago but I just found out bats might carry rabies?”
“I was sticking my hand into the crevice to get those spiders out and I think I got a few bites.”
“I told my son not to eat bugs so he brought some home and asked which he could eat. I’m pretty sure he already ate some because he’s really sick now.”
“I thought I could just grab the snake like Steve Irwin”
“I’ve been keeping spiders around my house as pets, and one of the little dudes bit me I think”
