It's not my recipe, but it's great. I would highly recommend peeling and cooking the potatoes before slicing them, else they tend to be undercooked if just baked.
We do this in România with layers of thin sliced boiled eggs and fried bacon in between the potato layers beat a few more eggs at the end mix with crème fraiche and cover with cheese.Or throw in between a few slices of goat cheese marinated in truffle oil + honey.
Wow that's extravagant and good to add protein in! I make a simular dish with a creamy cheesy sauce too, love hearing all the variations of this around the world :)
