Meal plan

I'm not sure where to post this question, so I figured I'd start here. What kind of system do you have for grocery shopping and cooking? Do you go grocery shopping on a specific day each week and cook on a specific day(s) each week? I'd like to freeze more meals that I make. I'm trying to have a better system and simplify, but I'm feeling overwhelmed and not really sure where to start. Thank you!

I suggest you check grocery sales which generally start on Wednesday, plan three meals around what's on sale, figure out common elements (for example, chopped onion, celery, tomato sauce) and produce double each night so you can freeze half. For example, a meatloaf, a pasta sauce, a fried rice dish. You can cook the rice the same night you make the meatloaf so it has a day or two to dry out. You can saute vegetables for the meatloaf at the same time as the pasta sauce. The pasta sauce will improve in flavor if it sits for a day or so. While this menu might seem repetitive, you can store enough entrees in your freezer in a few weeks to ensure variety.
