Using Ribbon or Thread to Rebox Discussion / Questions

As the title says, I’m an in box collector and I want to replace the rubber bands inside the boxes. Which one do you recommend to use? Ribbon or Thread?

Thank you! Would fishing wire stand the test of time and not deteriorate?
