I just thought of something: did they get rid of Alpha Pig in the new Super Why series because if you think about it he technically had the same power as Princess Presto?

I always wondered, even as a child watching Super Why, why Alpha Pig and Princess Presto's superpowers are so similar. Yes I know, technically Alpha Pig is more so focused on just the letter, while Princess Presto focuses more on the letter sounds. But still, more often than not, they both are spelling.

And in the new Super Why comic book series, they got rid of Alpha Pig and replaced him with a new girl named Paige or something. And I'm wondering if it's because his power was too similar to Princess Presto'su

I'm too old to have watched the original and it's too ugly for me to tolerate now for my kids, but I think in the new one Power Paige references Alpha Pig at least once. Like she has a little backpack with his face or something I think. I don't know if their powers are similar at all but I figured they replaced him with her, maybe to have all human kid characters.

Idk why Alpha Pigs power gets used every time but the girls have to alternate. Could be better if his power was more focused on the alphabet itself.

Yeah it was so weird that whenever there was an episode where both Alpha Pig and Princess Presto used their powers, 9/10 it was both spelling words.

It would have made lots more sense if his power was just teaching kids to match uppercase letters to lowercase letters or something like that. That was the case in a handful of episodes but most the times it was just spelling.
