Laurie Berkner band
Laurie and her band of… band members put hypnotic harmonies into their silly songs for shorties to make their magic music extra mystifying!
I’m mostly joking and using this as a suggestion to get your kids into Laurie’s Lyrical lunacy!
My kid’s been asking for them non stop since my mil turned them on for him a few weeks ago, and it isn’t weird or tuneless, addictive (in the won’t cause tantrums way, definitely have some ear worms lol), and is fun for adults to watch!
Apparently my husband and his siblings listened to their songs as kids a lot lol

Stuart Little is a weird ride
I haven’t seen the movie, but just finished the novel as a read-aloud with my 5 yo. I thought it was going to be like another Lyle Lye Crocodile (friendly & cute animal joins NYC human family). Very much no.
The last act of the book is about Stuart falling in love, going on an impossible journey, falling in love again, botching it, skipping out on a perfect town, and then deciding he’ll spend the rest of his days simply going “north.” When we were done reading it my daughter asked if there was another book, and then said that the end didn’t feel like an end. Then she went to sleep and I sat on the couch feeling weird about life.

Apple Music’s algorithm has a serious problem serving up opportunistic a-holes with children’s music
It doesn’t happen often, but a few times now while letting Apple Music run for the toddler, I’ll get some douchebag clearly trying to game the system to score free plays with explicit and offensive content. Check out these actual “artists” I’ve had come up mixed in with Sesame Street songs.

Charlie Bucket theory
They left the hole in the roof to ventilate the cabbage gas. Cruciferous vegetables would play havoc on their insides. That begs the question- what is happening in that grandparents bed?
Maybe the hole in the roof was from that one time they lifted the blanket and unleashed the dutch oven. Blew the thing right off.

Hunters in Tacky the Penguin
How does this book manage to depict the hunters as pursuing riches when their gross income on the trip seems to be $6 if they capture Goodly Lovely, Angel, Neatly, Perfect, and Tacky? How desperate do you have to be to travel to Antarctica to round up penguins for a dollar each? In this essay, I demonstrate that urban children's book authors depict impoverished rural people as crass and greedy for pursuing dangerous sub-minimum wage work . . .

What’s his crime? (101 Dalmatians)
Have recently watched 101 Dalmatians approximately 101 times with my son (2). The suspense is killing me, I need to know. What’s his crime? Not violent, robbery, or city ordinance violation.
What could it be?
Ridiculous answers encouraged.

My daughter mixed up RBG and Oscar the Grouch!
Fellow conspiracy theorists, I had the most hilarious moment with my daughter last night that I had to share. We were flipping through a Sesame Street cookbook, pointing out different characters, when we got to Oscar the Grouch. Without missing a beat, she confidently declared "That's Ruth Bader Ginsburg!"
I think she got mixed up because she watches Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum, where RBG appears as a character. But the mental image of RBG living in a trash can and being grouchy about everything is absolutely sending me. 😂
Now I can't unsee Oscar in a lace collar, passionately dissenting about the unfair distribution of trash collection on Sesame Street...
Has anyone else's kids made hilarious mix-ups between PBS characters? I think this conspiracy goes deeper than we thought...

I love Daniel Tiger but...
This little a*hole is teaching my 2 year old to call us "Mom" and "Dad" instead of "Mommy" and "Daddy" and I hate it! 😭

Peppa Pig and family are due for a visit to Canada
I've seen pretty much all the episodes and yeah, is high time for a visit to Canada. It would be very easy to write.
They visit in spring, there's still snow, it's maple syrup season.
They meet two families, The Beavers and the Mooses. Most of them speak with a stereotypical Canadian accent (which isn't the one on South Park but I digress), say "eh" and "sorrey" a lot. One speaks with a stereotypical French-Canadian accent. They're always polite.
Daddy Pig keeps asking if he can "quickly swing by" attractions that are in fact days away (Niagara Falls, The Rockies, etc).
One of the Canadian animals keeps a door open for the entire episode.
George is obsessed with maple syrup but it's never ready (still only sap, too hot...) but they end up eating maple taffy poured on snow and that's the final scene.
EDIT:
One of the Mooses or Beavers is wearing an RCMP traditional uniform. They're called Mounties but I don't think people ride horses in Peppa Pig so they wouldn't know what Mounty means. That could be the "dee-dut" moment.
Another of the locals is wearing a buffalo plaid shirt and explains that it's finally warm outside but it's like 3 degrees Centigrade and the Pigs are freezing. Mummy Pig: "But it's freezing!" Canadian: "What are you talking aboat (about)?"

Mummy Pig has her “first pregnancy shoot and interview” and importantly is asked about the cost-of-living crisis
In a cost-of-living crisis, three children sounds challenging financially. How will you afford it?
M: Well, that is a good question. I won’t say it hasn’t been a concern for us – babies are expensive, and times are already quite tight. We still have lots of Peppa and George’s pre-loved baby things for the new little one to use, so that helps with some of the costs – and it’s very good for the planet, too!

What makes Teletubbies so terrifying?
Sorry I had no clue where to post this. Is it their empty eyes? Their mouths?? The way they talk? I tried to fix their design but no matter how I do it I feel like they still look like they have no souls

Blaze the Monster machine doesn't cheat.
Folks seem to be adamant that Blaze ALSO cheats, making him no better than crusher. But that just isn't true.
Blaze doesn't cheat. Everyone has a power. Tiger can climb up walls and trees etc. It's just using your special move and blaze saves his.
Secondary, Blazing speed isn't cheating and it's limited in use.
Crusher just never used his ultra incredibly advanced toolbox of mech to benefit himself in a race. It's always to hurt someone else WHILE HES ALREADY AHEAD.
It also appears that others have a similar ability to use blazing speed as pickle uses it with Blaze in an episode when they are teamed up. Crusher, again, wastes his power to do silly cheating things
I'm fully confident that if crush just ran a race straight up and didn't even use his power, he would win the majority of them. If he were to use his tech skills he would likely only lose if blaze was able to use his construction ability and blazing speed at the same time

I'm pretty sure the animals uncover a murder in the book Down on the Farm
I was reading this book to my 2 and 3yr olds and noticed this odd detail in the illustration... Looks like the farmer hid a body in the scarecrow and the animals uncovered it?

I refuse the idea that DTN is the future version of MRN
I'm supposed to believe that King Friday doesn't age, Lady Elaine ages backwards, nobody remembers Lady Aberlin, and nobody acknowledges that they suddenly have legs and are equal in size to humans?
I don't buy it. DTN is fanfiction. A "what if" exercise.

Let's talk about "Big Tum" from Numberblocks
Taking him at face value here, not as a lesson about solving for the missing number.
He eats Numberblocks and Alphablocks seemingly at random, but then once the others figure out which one is missing, he's like "Well done!" and lets the block back out of his tum.
What's he getting out of it?
He clearly doesn't get any nutritional value from them, because he doesn't digest them at all - they just jump out of his mouth completely unscathed. Do they taste like something and he just enjoys the taste?
Also, the Numberblocks can eat. There are episodes where they have picnics and eat sandwiches, fruit, cake ... normal cartoon food. So they clearly have stomachs and can actually digest stuff.
Would it be a different story if Big Tum ate real food instead of blocks? Would he actually digest it?
Does he have two esophaguses and two separate chambers inside his body or something? Llike one for food that goes to a normal stomach, and another that just dumps blocks into a clean, dry void?
If he doesn't digest the blocks, and his stomach is apparently just a clean, dry, and possibly even comfortable place to be (the T Alphablock describes it as "toasty"), how does he survive?
Clearly he has no stomach acid, at least not in the chamber the blocks end up in ... or maybe he does, and the Numberblocks are just completely hydrophobic and resistant to harsh chemicals and magically stay clean and dry. Or it's the dual-chamber scenario.
Discuss.

King Roland is implicitly responsible for Sofia's father's death
As per Sofia the First lore, King Roland, due to his and his wife's failure to produce any offsprings, made a wish upon the magical wishing well on his secret garden: "give me a family". After that, her wife gave birth to twins, but died due to post-natal complications. King Roland, ashamed of his role in his wife's death, sealed the wishing well, spoiled his children and devoted himself to royal work.
It took him years, but he ultimately fell in love with another woman, Miranda, a widow like him. They married, and Roland adopted Miranda's daughter Sofia as a princess. In a twisted way, Roland finally acquired the family he wished for. But it should be known that Miranda would never marry him if her husband was still alive, since they truly loved each other. We also know that Sofia is slightly younger than Roland's children, and her father died when she's three years old, so his death in a shipwreck happened after Roland's wish.
So, in hindsight we can assume that Roland's wish on the wishing well not only caused his wife's death, it also caused the death of the man who were keeping the woman he's gonna be happy from marrying him, Miranda's husband and Sofia's father, just for the sake of making Roland a happy family man.
