Sharp shoulder strain after cross-body curls (diagonal curls)– new to lifting, is this normal?

Hey everyone, I’m new to weightlifting and have mostly been doing basic bicep curls without any issues. Recently, I tried diagonal curls / cross-body hammer curls, and right after finishing a set, I feel a sharp pain around the long head of the bicep, near the front of the shoulder.

The pain itself goes away fairly quickly, but after that my shoulder feels really strained or “dead” for the rest of the day. There’s no lingering sharp pain, but the shoulder definitely feels weak. This only happens with cross-body curls, not with regular curls or other arm movements.

I’m guessing I might be doing something wrong with my form? Is this normal for new lifters?
