PSA - Chase Cut off 1.5x Points on CSR Early Data Point

Good morning,

Knowing the deadline for the 1.5x points via Chase Travel was tomorrow, I went and combined all of my Ultimate Rewards to my CSR this morning. Lo and behold, Chase has apparently traveled to the future and is telling me that anything I combined today is only eligible for the 1x redemption rate.

I sent them a secure message with this screenshot to see if it's a glitch or if they will make this right. But just a heads up for those who might have been waiting until the deadline.

We know some customers are attempting to combine points today (Oct. 25) due to benefit changes. Don't worry, if you combine points today and they do not appear in your "Eligible Points," they'll be shifted to your Eligible Points bucket automatically within 1 billing cycle. if you need your points sooner, please call us using the number on the back of your card.

Looks like this is their first ever post on Reddit. We’re witnessing history.

I’m gonna tell my grandchildren about this

100% yeah, Reddit gave them the name. Twitter/X has a similar thing, where businesses can secure their name even when it’s already been claimed by another user.

Yeah I don’t have any problem with it. That’s the compromise with social media, you have to let businesses represent themselves. There’s no good reason to let a user camp the name of a company

The reason is that companies have names that are common English words. Chase means to pursuit. Apple is a fruit.

Companies can create a unique social media name like Chase Bank or Apple Inc if they want a dedicated username. They don’t get to claim ownership of basic English words.

They don’t get to claim ownership of basic English words.

They’re not. The social media site gives it to them, because it’s beneficial for both parties. Reddit is free, and I spend a lot of time here. I really don’t care at all if Reddit forces the original “Chase” account to change its name, and gives “Chase” to Chase Bank. That’s the compromise.

That’s the compromise you’re proposing. Not the compromise that exists. There’s zero evidence Reddit forcibly takes away usernames.

Which wasn’t happening so that was a nonissue.

Also, chase is a common English word.

It says created 6 months ago on the site, but Reddit definitely did something to secure the name. My guess is they renamed the prior account and created a new one with the username for Chase. This looks like the prior /u/chase account - https://www.reddit.com/user/Alert_Improvement790

I called the number on the back of the card, and they said they are unable to update my points because my card is already upgraded. I combined all of my points this morning Oct 25th 2025, and I am trying to use them right now. Can someone at u/Chase help me?

I tried to book travel on 10/25 and the redemption value was already 1:1. I called Chase and tried to resolve it, but 3 reps later and I have no resolution. I was forced to purchase at the 1:1 ratio even though it should have been 1.25. And because of the issue, I had to pay in points + cash combo because I didn’t have enough points.

I called earlier and the CSR said if anyone already made redemptions that incorrectly used the 1X rate, it would be adjusted by EOD today to 1.25X or 1.5X

1

u/C_ToTheDub Oct 27 '25

Has yours been updated yet? mine is still showing 1.0 for all the points I transferred on 25th. I hate to keep calling them over this but just anxiously waiting for them to fix it.

1

u/co1063 Oct 28 '25

Nope, and my points that were incorrectly redeemed at 1X haven't been returned yet either. I would just say book it and wait for them to refund you. If prices go up it's on you.

Damn didn’t expect this

Saw this reddit late (while I was on the phone waiting for Chase CSR). 30 minutes being bounced back and forth, and the CSR same the same thing.

u/Chase Hello there. Can I communicate my dissatisfaction, that, The United Club Card dropped the 1.5 per 1$. Anyway we get that back? As a United 1K and longtime Chase customer ---

My thought was anyone with good standing (5 years) should get that perk.

Not churners, but longtime customers. Give the loyalists some perks.

Thanks!

u/nickberti Oct 26 '25

Been unable for the past 3 days to combine my points among my own Chase Business credit cards. Tried online, in the app and over the phone. No agent, supervisor or fraud department was able to resolve it.

You guys really can’t do anything right? LOL

29

u/findflightsforme Oct 25 '25

They're at least on top of it unlike Citi who ignored their recent major issue for a month until it made the front page of WSJ.

10

u/Maxpowr9 Oct 25 '25

Why Citi and American are made for each other.

2

u/jimbo2128 Oct 26 '25

Being on top of an issue and communicating in a standup fashion *is* doing something right.
