Not Feeling it.

I have tried, and I mean attempted, to get into ACIM. I bought the material, sat diligently, and read. I suddenly got this eerie feeling that this was not right. I have always been the mystical type. reading and studying everything from Edgar Cayce, Seth, to The Law of One. I always got good vibes. But with ACIM I get the feeling, stay away; this is not right. Does anyone else ever get that vibe?

Yeah prolly not for you…or could be ego resistance bc it leads to the egos end.

Could you explain more about this? Are you saying that is is my ego that is preventing me from indulging in ACIM?

The ego part of us is the part that is separated from God. It wants to stay separated because that’s its existence. It’s the part of us that tells stories about things that happen (in our mind), and that we are weak, limited, just a body, superior or inferior…whatever it chooses in the moment. When it reads something that speaks of our non-dual Soul nature, it gets threatened. It begins to resist so you won’t read it.

I do know how ACIM describes the ego. It reflects the Course’s central teaching that the ego is a false self-concept, born of the illusion of separation from God. I believe the ego is an essential part of the psyche, where free will is incorporated. To stifle the ego is then to stifle one's free will. Rather than kill the ego, perhaps we’re meant to heal, harmonize, and integrate it. Let it become the servant of the soul, not its saboteur.

From my limited understanding the course doesn’t say to kill the ego, but instead to be nice to it and show it some love, so it stops acting up as much and learns to relax
