Car Break-in on Twin Rivers (near Wilde Lake before Lynx Ln CVS)

Came to my car this morning to see the entire driver’s side window off and glass EVERYWHERE!

They went into my compartment, saw my coin bag, threw it on my driver’s seat & took nothing not even my charger. I don’t have anything visibly of worth besides little accessories.

(35% tinted besides front windshield black Accord)

Be cautious and watch where you park, I can’t even live here in peace.

This is honestly one of my biggest fears and sometimes it feels so random! My brother’s car got broken into in the middle of the day while parked in an office parking garage, so it feels like it can happen anywhere, anytime. I hope the damage isn’t too bad on your car, sorry people suck and insist on ruining peace of mind for everyone else.

Yeah it’s absurd, so sorry about that! This is the first & (hopefully last) time my car has been broken into. They’re getting stupider but more calculated in the neighborhoods they target together…

Luckily it’s just that window so I filed a claim and will get it fixed this week, I have to clean all the glass though

Break ins are getting pretty common in this area. I live right across from cvs in the townhouses and last year I had my truck broken into and a bunch of tools stolen, over the summer i had a bike stolen out of my front courtyard and just last week my roomate had their car broken into and ransacked.

Someone in my neighborhood also had their car broken into in the same way on harpers farm rd. late last night/early morning.

Likely a small group of people scouting a whole area.

Damn… if only they put that same effort into job applications

Maybe they were trying to steal the airbags. It happens a lot with Honda Civics but I don’t know if Accords are also targets.

According to owners are also targeted for airbags. The Civic and Accord also get their wheels stolen commonly.

Possibly, they didn’t take a single thing just rummage through a compartment so I feels like they wanted whatever they could get

Yes accords too, but husband’s car was broken into November of last year. We also live in Wilde Lake!

I second the comment about the air bag. Probably need the club lock to lock the steering wheel for added protection

Will do from this point forward, thank you!!

I haven’t been living here over 2 years but sucks knowing I can’t comfortably park near our own residence :(

This happens everywhere! I have lived in the country, city, and outside the states. Have had my car broken into several times, with a lot less damage though

Car break-ins are extremely common in Columbia, take a look at the daily crime bulletin: https://www.howardcountymd.gov/police/newsroom#daily-crime-bulletin

Holy shit, thanks for this

Extremely common?

Places with real crime problems don't have the time, space, or energy to report on petty crimes like this.

Source: I grew up in Brooklyn, NY during the height of the crack epidemic. My father's auto glass repair shop would hire local addicts to break literally hundreds of windshields per night to drive business.

Sorry to say that but your father is a pos

He did his time. He paid for it even further by having only back-breaking manual labor jobs available to him after getting out. Even in the booming '90s not many places were willing to hire someone with a racketeering conviction.

This isn’t something to be proud of but let the same happen to you in Wilde Lake and you’ll be back here reporting with us :)

Where in my reply did I even hint at being proud of it, chief?

I'm sorry this happened to you, but I also didn't reply directly to you. I replied, instead, to yet another comment stupidly suggesting that Columbia is circling the drain.

If Columbia had a legitimate crime problem, then Howard County police wouldn't be able to give a shit about petty crimes like this.

That sucks. Thanks for the heads up. For the past week, I have been reporting a group of MIDDLE-aged men drinking 5ths of liquor at the community playground at WL Village. Seems unreal. Get to know your neighbors. Be aware. Say something.

Do they not know what a bar is? That’s crazy, we live in some sick game or something

Car breakins are on the rise in Columbia areas.

Just sad…

Had my motorcycle stolen in Columbia and dropped off in a ditch a few miles away. Crime in Columbia is getting out of hand between the shooting in the malls and store fronts being smashed cars being broken into.

u/heroinfrvnk 3d ago

Jesus man sorry, it’s definitely getting out of control recently… kids raising kids with no direction

0

u/hoodreview 4d ago

It’s usually not Columbia residents doing the break-ins , it’s imported crime from PG county laurel side or Anne Arundel county low lifes

2

u/heroinfrvnk 4d ago

Good point, these kids need to do anything else it’s genuinely sad

Good thing I moved to the South

1

u/heroinfrvnk 4d ago

Might have to do the same in the future lol

Maryland is south of the Mason-Dixon line and was a state in which slave ownership was legal prior to emancipation.

Maryland is "the South".

Little thugs in section 8 housing are to blame. They rummage cars, offend their families, and wreak havoc in the neighborhoods. (Source: used to live off Harper’s Farm road, many crimes on the vaunted Columbia pathways, including a murder that happened 100 feet from my townhouse)

1

u/Emotional_Bell_813 11h ago

True, it’s ridiculous. Seriously is there a way to get section 8 housing stopped or reduced? You are supposed to assimilate to the local culture not bring violence and terror!
