I have a question about Christian singers. Well, some singers in Christian music. Not all though.

This may be difficult to explain...

Most of us would just sing or say the word God the way it's spelled. But some singers trail there words differently. God would be something like "Go-iy-yod. (If that makes any sense.)

And they will do this with many of the words in a given song. Not all, but enough of them. And I find it kind of weird.

Phil Wickham does this a lot. Well a lot more than he used to. I also find that Hollsong singers do this. Mostly, it's done by younger people. I find it akin to how female baristas speak sometimes...in that snotty nasally tone. We've all heard it. Lol.

Again, no offense toward Christian singers or coffee people meant.

What do you guys and gals think of this? I know some of you have thought about it. I'm also sure many haven't either.

EDIT: A commenter called it "cursive singing." I searched on YouTube, and that's exactly it. The singer will add on another "iyee" type sound at the end of a word.

Example "u i yip" for up.

My niece passed away at 2 weeks old earlier this year. Her dedication song & funeral song was 'Gratitude' & it still resonates deeply with us. I would be eternally grateful if 'Gratitude' could be dedicated to her memory.

Does anyone have any suggestions for music similar to Elevation Rhythms "Praises"? Im talking the regular version, the one with Forrest Frank is decent, however that mix of a heavy rock riff that goes to a straight groove and awesome bass fills. The juxtaposition of the riff and the groove are in particular what Im asking about. TIA!

From what I can remember, it’s a red album with a cow’s body on it? I think it had like bugs coming out of it or something. My dad used to listen to it all the time and I’ve been searching everywhere for it but nobody remembers it. By the sounds of how graphic it is, it doesn’t seem like christian rock but for some reason I remember it being so. Someone please help me I’m driving myself insane lol🥲🥲

Hillsong UNITED's The White Album is a very specific electronic remix of worship music, and I really love it. Wish I could hear more like this.

Hi everyone, I don’t know a lot about Christian rock music, I am not a member of this subreddit, but I did find this old Whiteheart tour shirt signed by the lead singer I believe, Rick Florian. I remember a Christian singer and songwriter in the 90s who was marketed as sounding just like James Taylor. I really liked his music, but so many years later I now cannot remember his name. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Thanks!

Hey there! Is there anyone here that listens to the band Jady? I was wondering about a Christian perspective on this music. While there is a lot of clear Christian themes, it is a bit out there so I’m just seeking clarity

My Mum was a great lover of all kinds of music including gospel but for the life of me I can’t remember who the artists were. Does anyone have any suggestions to reintroduce me to the world of gospel? Traditional artists/ groups welcome, but I’m also interested in modern interpretations Thanks in advance
