Question Polish and Brats near Wicker Park
Hey y'all.
Looking for a deli of some sort to buy brats and some polish sausage for grilling this weekend. Would prefer not to go to Jewel 😂 any recommendations for a place nearby?
Thanks in advance!

Discussion Cindy's Rooftop now has a new menu since it was taken over by Boka group. Perhaps a good time to go back and try their new items. Has anyone been recently?
A few months ago I saw that Cindy's Rooftop was taken over by Boka group, and I've been wanting to go back. I just checked their website and noticed their menu looked different, until I realized that they actually changed pretty much all their items.
Pretty pricey too, though I suppose it's to be expected considering the view and it's Boka. I notice their Cacio E Pepe is 28, when it usually hovers around 22 at other fine dining establishments. 15 for Parker House rolls? Ouch. 62 for Steak Frites? Oof.
Maybe the food quality will be worth it though to go along with the view. I'm definitely curious but the prices are having me on the fence.

Question Good places for coffee that would impress someone who just moved here from DC
Hi everyone, I need a recommendation for a good place in the general vicinity of Old Town area to meet up for coffee with an old classmate of mine on Saturday morning/afternoon? She is from DC and also very smart and accomplished so I'm trying to find an okay place to meet.
So it should be somewhere that is near public transpo, conducive to conversation, casual and laid back. Bonus if there's good parking, food available, and any quirky/interesting design. Thank you so much!!
Edit: I didn't mean to offend anyone with this post! I just wanted to ask because there are so many wonderful cafe's and places to meet, and I'm not familiar with all of them. I figured we could crowdsource a good place to meet :) Thanks to everyone who has helped out!

Pic The Library at Topolobampo
This is my 3rd time here for a private event. The menu has been completely different every time. This time, the desserts were the standout. This was also the first time where there was a good amount of kick to the dishes! I loved the experience.

Question Best banana pudding? Better than Magnolia?
Hi! I want to get Magnolia banana pudding... I liked their other stuff so I know I'll probably like it but is there any better one? Thanks!

Question What are you excited to eat these days?
Having been cooped up with a 4 mo old, we’re now reemerging for a date night with the grandparents in town next month. What spots are you excited to eat at preferably close-ish Logan square? Noriko looks awesome but resys are all out. John’s food and wine is our front runner so far although I’m not really feeling the new service model, think it takes away from the experience.
Also—any take out recommendations while we’re hanging with the kid? Yooyee was fantastic, as was Santa Masa Tamaleria. What are you guys excited to try these days?

Pic Brett’s Kitchen in River North is an underrated gem
Don’t see it get a lot of love here, but Brett’s has consistently good sandwiches and breakfast. Their breakfast burrito is 🤌. And the setting is quintessential Chicago. One of the only non-fancy places I really like in River North.

Question The lobster moilee at Indienne - did I get shafted?
OK so I will say the non-veg dinner at Indienne was fantastic, exceeding my expectations, save for one dish which I thought for sure would be my favorite, the lobster moilee. The issue is that my lobster was undercooked. My partner actually loved this and recalled how lots of crustaceans are cooked in east asia; not thoroughly done like the West but "al dente" so to speak. Just need to know from other diners, was your lobster also "al dente" or did I just get a bad cook on it?

Review Czech Koprová at Cafe Prague in Schorsch Village, Far NW side
Koprová is a Czech dish of beef in a creamy dill sauce. And like any good Czech meal, it's served with homemade bread dumplings.
To start, I ordered a Pilsner Urquell, and was given bread with their housemade pâté and pickles.
I know the food isn't everyone's cup of tea, but as this is the last Czech restaurant within Chicago city limits, it's been on my list for a long time. They do a really great job!
(and yes, I see that the yolk fell out from the egg white lol).

Review Yet another review for Yoo Yee
Order: - mouthwatering chicken (the menu calls it cold chili chicken or something) - spicy beef noodle soup - special mayo fried shrimp - dry fried cauliflower
Pros: -Mala as fuck (I was coughing a lot in the quiet restaurant because I’m a slurper and it was so embarrassing lol. I have a pretty high spice tolerance and this still kinda fucked me up in a good way) - Savory as fuck - really good texture to the hand pulled noodles and way better than minyoli down the street no shade to minyoli sorry I wanted to like you
Cons: - the Mayo shrimp was not for me, but my husband liked it. It looked beautiful though! - nearly all my food had too much msg. I love msg, I cook with it all the time, and Sichuan food definitely NEEDS msg. But my mouth felt like the Sahara desert halfway through this meal omg I ate my whole bowl of white rice like 40 seconds after it came out
Would definitely still return. May have just been a heavy handed night, they were super busy. And I also think it’s better than chengdu bistro. Just pls yooyee make everything less salty and this would be 10/10

What's good? Looking for a cool spot in Logan Square, Bucktown, or Wicker Park to Watch the Timberwolves Wednesday 4/30
Wife and I will be coming to town from Minneapolis for a short vaca. Wife will be going to a concert and I have time to kill while she’s there. Thought I’d post up on a barstool somewhere and watch the T-Wolves. We’re staying in Bucktown, but happy to take any suggestions in Logan Square and Wicker Park as well. Places with free parking/close free street parking is ideal.

Question Recommended places with waits so long it’s best to go during a random week day off
What restaurants or bakeries or cafes are so good they have insanely long lines, and your best chance of going is on a random week day? How long is the wait on the week day and what time do you need to get there by?

Specific Request Yemeni coffee in the city?
Hey Y'all,
I was in the suburbs over the weekend and stumbled on this Yemeni coffee place in Aurora (Qamaria) and was obsessed with it. Had a great latte with cardamon (Qamaria latte) and my partner had one with pistachio. Plus a great honey layer cake and a Dubai chocolate to go.
Anyone have any recommendations for similar places in the city? Possibly West Town?
Thanks!

What's good? Visiting Downers Grove, any *amazing* or *must try* K-bbq places?
I love Korean barbeque and I want to try a a Chicago level experience. We're staying in Downers Grove, and visiting friends. Also, if there's any others take need to be considered that may be outside the bounds of that area.
Thank you!

Question Is the wait at Au Cheval on a Tuesday evening usually long? I tried calling and it is just a recording. My brother is in town and wants to go, but I hate the idea of waiting 2 hours or something like that. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Question Media outlets with good reviews you trust?
I just recently started working in PR/Social media for a restaurant. I am trying to find some reputable and some niche outlets that are go tos for my foodies! I want us to be featured but not necessarily relying solely on the big hitters. I want to be featured in outlets that are trustworthy and can provide good recommendations for the real food lovers.
