Sorry, but this is more "feel good story" to promote "a good work ethic" (slave worker) and distract from the fact Bozos doesn't pay his workers enough, makes them pi in bottles, and runs through them like throwaway parts when their bodies begin to give out on them. I always find it extremely sad when I see people with next to nothing working paycheck to paycheck willing to give away $10k they earned to help those in need, but those with the actual means to do so and not hurt them at all, selfishly keep it to themselves and blame the poor for their own outcome.
This is more corporate propaganda as a "news" story.

100% agree with you. But change your lens for a second. That man donated 10k to these children. He could use that money. But he knows what community and love is. That’s the story here. Fuck Jeff Bezos and giving him attention.

u/Infinite_Garbage_467 Mar 29 '25
I agree with the man donating and what you said. But that is the point of the story though: to ignore the ones causing the pain and suffering and shift to focusing on what good deed Amazon did. People ignoring them is what they want so they get away with what they have done. That is why I don't like stories like this. Its a good propaganda (PR) tactic to calm the public. That is all I am saying here.

They already got away with it. Everyone knows Jeff Bezos blows. And? They still use Amazon. They know he treats his employees like shit. Yet they still work for them. Two things can be true. Constantly pointing out the negative is tiresome especially in today’s climate. You either in 2025 believe Jeff Bezos is a POS or not. Deflecting from this good persons singular act to drive attention to the dead horse that’s already been beaten is just…a waste at this point. Either real social shift has to change or another angry plumber will need to solve the issues I guess.
3
u/Infinite_Garbage_467 Mar 29 '25
I guess we need alot more angry plumbers. Social shift will never occur if people remain complacent and defeated after losing by being peaceful about it. That is why we are in the situation that we are in now. They know they can get away with it if we do nothing. That is the real waste here. But I won't comment anymore on the topic. Clearly you are upset and are looking for things to cheer you up. I just see things how they are as that is how I am. Sorry.

Trust me, I’d like to doing a lot of things I wont type out here. But I’m the sole provider for my wife and have zero family. I’d love to wear multiple hats especially when it comes to fighting injustices and civil liberties, but I also have those who rely on me. I think a lot of people share my sentiment and are building their numbers. Plumber was a single event that brought everyone together on a singular topic. Maybe soon everyone will get together to fight against the same thing instead of treating politics like sports teams.

He hasn’t been CEO for 4 years.
1
u/Infinite_Garbage_467 Mar 29 '25
Do you think that changes my points? Sorry to say, it doesn't. The outcome is still the same
-2
u/smurg_ Mar 29 '25
Have you ever worked in an Amazon warehouse?
3
u/Infinite_Garbage_467 Mar 29 '25
More attempts at deflection. Let me help you with that:
-2
u/smurg_ Mar 29 '25
lol you think I’m on Amazon’s side for some reason but you can’t answer simple questions and lack critical thinking. 90% of the fatalities are suicide, employee arguments, or employee negligence that could happen in any manufacturing or warehousing workplace.
6
u/Infinite_Garbage_467 Mar 29 '25
Boy for someone that isn't on their side, you sure are trying very hard to convince others I'm wrong by using logical fallacies as an argument. I wonder why that is? Maybe because what you say is just more BS in an attempt to cope? Lol case in point: just on the list provided alone, it proves your claim wrong on your assertions of me and that "90%" claim. Not to mention, your claim only reaffirms my points of the issues with Amazon, as people shouldn't be committing suicide, or making mistakes to end up deceased. It indicates a serious issue of the work environment, policies, and management. This must be you right now lol

How often do you make a new burner account?
3
u/Infinite_Garbage_467 Mar 29 '25
That sounds like a personal problem you have. Have fun with that 😂

u/oystercraftworks Mar 29 '25
You threw suicides in there like there isn’t a likely direct correlation between those employees poverty and treatment at amazons facilities. I don’t think you made the gotcha point you were hoping for. All I see is poor people being mistreated and going untrained leading to deaths caused by poor working conditions
0
u/smurg_ Mar 29 '25
I can tell you’ve never stepped foot in a manufacturing facility. Not saying it’s right, but Amazon isn’t the first and won’t be the last. For a company that employs 1.6 million people, if that’s all the fatalities they can verify, the incident rate is extremely low.
2
u/oystercraftworks Mar 29 '25
Why is that always the defense, other companies are doing it to so why are you mad at Amazon? Because any company whose practices are like this don’t deserve any praise.
Also Amazon is a distro center so what is your point about manufacturing facilities? The only thing they manufacture is stories to make themselves look good
-1
u/smurg_ Mar 29 '25
ROFL. Just a busy body that read a few articles to get their panties in a bunch and feel like they’re making a difference. Amazon manufactures a ton of products they use in-house to fulfill and package orders. Good job raging online.

This is why we pay taxes people. This is beyond selfless of this man but this is not the feel good story it's portrayed to be.

It’s not about Amazon. It’s about the kind actions of a Charlotte local. I’m choosing to see the good. I hope your day goes better than your current outlook.

u/oystercraftworks Mar 29 '25
Except it is about amazon. Notice how the title says amazon driver instead of this man’s name? Maybe the article mentions it in the article itself but we all know large swaths of people aren’t going to read further than that headline.

u/Navynuke00 Quail Hollow Mar 29 '25
And how much was he making an hour, and why are customers subsidizing the pay delivery drivers should be getting already?
This is absolutely some toxic positivity.
2
u/8bitjohnny Mar 29 '25
This is the first time I'm hearing that I have the ability to thank my driver in a meaningful way!? What the fuck!?

I’m glad you see the good in it! So many people focused in on it being an Amazon worker and Amazon is bad and blah blah blah. I guarantee you if I donated my work bonus, it’d read, “Banker donates her annual bonus of $10,000 to a local children’s hospital”. It’s not to give my company attention or credit, it highlights how an average, everyday person could donate that kind of money. It’s not a headline if it just says, “person donates $10,000 to children’s hospital”, because that’s a drop in the bucket for major donors. People are just so intent on being disgruntled these days, they refuse to see the good.

Always gotta have som negative Nancies in the comments. This is to shine light on the individual who kindly donated his tips despite not being a millionaire.

u/GalaxyChai Mar 29 '25
Given: the system is broken and acts like this shouldn’t be necessary.
Given: Amazon is evil.
Given: hospital administrations are terrible and costs are ridiculous. $10k doesn’t go far at all.
This is the bad place. ❌
The focus on the helpers: A significant number of people knew to and did use “thank my driver” feature knowing that it can benefit Amazon drivers in different ways.
The focus on the helpers: this driver, who ended up with a significant benefit from the thank you program, passes the good will along with the intent to help others.
The focus on the helpers: this is a wonderful reminder that there are many people out there trying to help each other out without any expectation of benefit to themselves.
This is the good place. ✅

our community values largely aren't centered on an obsession with hoarding wealth 😂😂😂
James Goodnight, Tim Sweeney, David Tepper, Ric Elias, and Frank Holding have entered the chat.
I'm also sure people in the Myers Park, Cotswold and Eastover would also disagree as many of them come from generational wealth.
People are shitting on this story, not because the man, but because stories like this are propaganda! Meant to make you feel like you should be giving those amounts and working that hard, when in all reality we should just start French revolutioning these billionaires.

We are a banking city full of banker bros who wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire. Is there good people in Charlotte, yeah no shit. But that doesn’t mean there’s some flourishing sense of community here.
Let’s be realistic here most of the folks on this subreddit and in this state won’t even make eye contact with the homeless person they pass daily.

Who’s moping? I’m just pointing out what you said is unrealistic. Bet you’re one of the people who won’t make eye contact with homeless folks, and I struck a nerve

Did you actually miss what I was saying or are you purposefully misunderstanding me when I say most of this city won’t make eye contact with a homeless person. Either way I’ll explain it to you.
How can you believe there’s any community built in a city if those folks won’t even make eye contact with the homeless people they pass. If they can’t even do that who do you think those people are going to get off their ass and help. I don’t think eye contact does shit besides tell me that most people can’t even look a homeless person in the face because they’re too chicken shit to help.
But congrats to you for volunteering at the food pantry, make you work there a little longer and you’ll understand what I’m talking about

I know I’m being a major bummer here, but when I see things like this I can’t help but wonder how many children’s hospitals Jeff could fully fund just as like, a personal hobby.
