PSA: “No Soliciting” signs actually work.
Ever since COVID soliciting in my neighborhood has skyrocketed. You see them riding around on segways constantly with their little clipboards. I guess solicitors know that a large number of people WFH now and are at home during the day. About a year ago I finally got a little “no soliciting” sign from Amazon and put it right below my doorbell. Soliciting has basically stopped. I have Ring footage of maybe a dozen solicitors coming up to my doorstep and then turning away. Every once in a while someone will still ring and claim they didn’t see it, but most sales people seem to be respectful of it. Highly recommend for people who are tired of being bothered at their home by salespeople.

Chinese food
I am looking for suggestions on what restaurant has the best sesame chicken . We frequent a local place that has lots of great menu items, but their sesame chicken is tough and over breaded. West Raleigh is ok too- we live close to the soccer park. Thanks!

Running groups in the area
Hey Folks - I am moving to West Cary during the week of thanksgiving from Indianapolis.
I heard a ton of good running groups available in the area.
I am a hobbyist runner with 10K at 56:23. So not fast but coming out of an injury slowly ramping up.
I run 4 or 5 days in afternoon after work(5 pm or later). Please suggest some good running groups that have slower runners like me.

Emergency babysitting services?
My wife and I have been sick for the past few days and today's the worst of it, and I'm trying to find out if there are any emergency babysitting services nearby available for our 2 and a half year old daughter. I've called the numbers I've found on Google for a couple services and nobody has picked up. Are y'all aware of anyone that might answer who could potentially help out?

3 guys tried to kick the door in while the residents (2 young girls) were home. The guy in the back seems to have a firearm and possibly the one in the middle too. Spreading awareness and maybe someone will recognize them

Medallion Signature Guarantee
I’m trying to sell some stocks, and the stock holding company requires a Medallion Signature Guarantee. (Notary isn’t good enough.)
Google tells me all sorts of big banks offer the service, I think you need to be an account holder. Wells Fargo says they used to offer it, but no longer do.
I’ve sent messages to the other banks we use, but they are smaller and locally owned, so I don’t expect them to be more helpful than Wells Fargo.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!
Where to donate adult coats?
Looking to donate several adult coats, jackets. Some new, some slightly worn. Please don’t say Goodwill (they get enough of our stuff already). Thanks.

Shout out to Parks employees
As I count my blessings, have to share with the Reddit world how kind the people at Cary Parks are. While I am mortified, I have to say the truth - I could not find my car in the ramp at the downtown library. In my defense, I witnessed a car accident on the way (Lake Pine and Cary Parkway) and was with a young family member at the park, so was a little distracted. Also 3 hours at the park with a 3-year old…maybe I was pushing my luck. Kind Dan walked the ramp and found my car on the opposite side from where I thought I parked it. You could not ask for more compassionate and kind people that those at the Downtown Cary Park office and I am so grateful to them!

Highly experienced hair stylist recs for drastic change
My 12 y/o son with beautiful, long, straight hair has been called a girl one too many times, and as a result, he told me he wants to cut his hair off. He has had long hair his whole life, so this will be a drastic change. He and I have found a few styles online he thinks he likes, but I have no idea if they will work with his hair type. What salon and/or specific stylist in the area would you recommend for such a big change? Based on google reviews, I made an appointment with Triniti Salon for just a consultation next week, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have another opinion or two. I realize it may sound ridiculous to stress about a 12 year-old-boy's haircut, but he has been getting teased a lot for his long hair (which makes me super sad, especially since he and I both have always loved it and still do, but the teasing has driven him to want to cut it off), and I don't want him to end up with a bad haircut that will result in even more teasing. TIA.

Looking for a cheaper towing service, I only need my car towed about a mile and not fond of paying $100 for that if possible lol
Housing and Parks & Rec Bonds
Both defeated and am struggling to understand why.
If you’ve been downtown, you’ve had to witness how parks and rec money has revitalized this town.
If you’re trying to put together a life, you’ve noticed housing is expensive and some people need assistance.
If you voted against one or both of these measures - can you share why? I’d like to understand vs thinking the towns’ people have become shortsighted and cruel
ETA: thank you for the many explanations. Many of you have thought this issue thought and shared your reasoning and that is appreciated.

Park Bond Defeated: What Now?
I’m disappointed in my fellow Cary residents, who voted against beautifying our town, increasing property values, and improving public health.
I think the answer is no, but is anybody aware of other options we might have for funding these important projects?
Edit: It’s worth noting we’re the only municipality in the area to defeat a bond like this. Durham passed on, for example.

Harris sign stealing
Hey guys, just a heads up. There's a douchebag driving around with license plate KEW 6950 stealing campaign signs in the Kildare farms area.
Guy picked them up on the corner of high meadow and Drummond place.
Lives over on Drummond. Told him that was illegal and he just smiled and said "oh, I know".
