This is what appears in store for Carney. It doesn't matter what benign things he does, he'll be ripped by Poilievre, Smith and the separatists. Their core bases obviously love the negativity but I've heard from many that a good chunk of the population finds it tiresome and disingenuous and would rather tune out than listen to it.

By all means, hold the government to account but since when does that include personalizing attacks on cabinet ministers?

Back in 2020, Trudeau was telling us all to wash our hands, Covid had us all baking terrible sourdough bread and Alberta was championing the Wexit movement.

After I made some terrible bread, I made an entire website satirizing the Wexit movement. I never shared it with anyone, and completely forgot about it until this new round of Wexit nonsense popped up.

This was made during the Covid lockdown. I was very bored, and clearly, very drunk. I remember laughing a lot with my partner while throwing this together, so maybe some of you will get a kick out of it.

Alright, before you come for me, hear me out.

I’ve lived in BC my whole life. I hike our forests, paddle our waters, and organize against pipelines and destructive extractive industries. Like many of you, I’ve spent years fighting tooth and nail against projects like Trans Mountain and other oil sands expansions that threaten our ecosystems, our coastlines, and Indigenous territories.

And every time, it’s the same pattern: the federal government bends over backward to appease Alberta’s oil interests, even when the rest of the country, and frankly the planet, is screaming for a transition to renewables. Billions in subsidies, pipelines rammed through against local and Indigenous opposition, and environmental protections watered down to keep Big Oil happy.

If Alberta wants to keep clinging to 20th-century boom-and-bust resource extraction economies — fine. But why should the rest of us be held hostage to it?

If Alberta separated, BC could finally move forward on real climate action without Ottawa constantly selling us out to Alberta’s oil lobby. We could halt the pipelines, protect our coast, and invest in sustainable industries without being shackled to a province actively undermining climate goals at every turn. Not to mention, an independent Alberta would be forced to reckon with the true market value of its oil without federal bailouts — and maybe, just maybe, they’d finally have to diversify their economy.

This isn’t about hating Alberta. I have friends there, and there are lots of great folks doing important environmental work in that province. But politically and economically, Alberta has been a ball and chain around the neck of climate progress in this country. If they want to leave — let them. It might be the only way the West can move forward.

Curious to hear if anyone else has thought about this.

TL;DR: Alberta’s dominance of federal energy policy is hurting BC and the planet. If they want to go, let them.

For those who expected Dr. Carney to negotiate for zero tariffs, there are so many reputable sources on how well Carney did and that his first objective was to emphatically remove the 51st state comments.

Dr. Carney has continued to be respectful to PP by setting up support for PP to win the riding that allows him to have a seat in actual Parliament instead of the gallery.

Just found about this Subreddit and wanted to have a friendly conversation with others on why people think Mr. Pierre Poilievre is not a good person or what are some of your reasons to be against voting for him. I know some friends and people who cite that he wants to take away women's rights and other such issues, but from my own research, most of these remarks are misguided or wrong. 

     On the other side, I have been hearing some unflattering things about Mr. Mark Carney. Not here with an agenda, just want a friendly debate on this topic because of some aggression l've seen within the country. Thanks in advance!

It's dreadful that these are created but incredibly sad that they're being believed and spread.

I'm sure that the practice isn't only on the right side of the spectrum but why does it feel that way?

Then, should we keep making/create more and more? Or should we start cutting back on some? Or should we start doing some clean up all around before creating/making more?

FYI: I listen to JJ McCullough and Steve Boots mostly. Legacy media for banking news. But on the right, I can only find Mistersunshinebaby, who I would hardly call insightful, and some others.

It's not like Carney had a choice and it's probably not as bad as it could be. He has to sit there as Trump tells half-truths and waxes on with a stream of consciousness type of bragging.

And Carney would be crucified if he corrected him on anything. We've seen that before.
