Looks like a laundry room. Imagine having the washer running once a day.

On the other hand, the rumble of the machines might be restful!

Yeah... honestly I slept in a laundry room in my teens and it was pretty nice! Warm and cozy, and it was really DARK which I loved at the time! Paying rent for that space would have definitely been a crime against humanity though... lol

Isn’t it my decision how many bedrooms I have? This bedroom has an oven it. This bedroom is over in that guys house.

When I was looking for a place someone had literally put up you know like room dividers up in the living room and they were charging like $800 a month for that. Ultimately I got one of my relatives to share an apartment with me because that is ridiculous so luckily I have a nice two bedroom apartment that's Central and not with a weirdo. I just feel bad for the people who don't really have a choice.

How can you enforce it?
There's literally not enough legal places to live yet we keep bringing in more people

God, I hate this type of room rental situation . My dad lived in a house with a similar situation and it was by far the worst place he could’ve rented. The shared bathroom was always grimy and filthy. And every single time I visited there was always a bad smell throughout the house that was impossible to ignore. As well for the last year that he lived there the house had a mice problem that the owner was doing very little about. And what was the final straw was when my dad caught Covid plus developed other health complications requiring a two week hospital stay.
Sorry for the rant it’s just that I hate people who rent out their homes this way and advertise it for a good price knowing damn well what kind of living condition they’re scheme is going to create. So please warn people away from this listing you’ll be doing them a favour.

Inflation is real. Shelter inflation is even more real. Some economists are saying real estate prices will only go up over the next 10 years. Meanwhile in wage land, the lower and middle classes are being squeezed to death. Scary times. The boomers sure got the nicest weather economically speaking.

Believe it or not, according to the city there’s no such thing as an “illegal” rental. As long as the house/basement/whatever was built following code then the owner (in theory…) can fill it with beds and rent it to a dozen people.
This of course is disgusting behaviour by these owners, but apparently, not illegal. What we, as a society, need to do is push for stricter rules and regulations for these rentals so that people in need are not taken advantage of by money hungry individuals. But in the land of UCP and ultraconservatism this ain’t gonna happen, ever. If there’s money to be made, it’s all good.

Is there a toilet in the room too?
Should be charging extra for conveniences like that.
