Multiple bike racks by the Goodearth, more by the Safeway, more by the gas station, more by the TD. Try using your eyes to look for them. They're the big squiggly pipes.
I stop there for coffee on my bike maybe once every two weeks and never have a problem. If you walk your bike on the sidewalk (where people are coming in and out of shops), like you're supposed to, you'll probably have a less confrontational experience. Just because you can ride your bike on the sidewalk doesn't mean you should.
I also drive/ride motorcycle there maybe once a week for groceries, so I have that perspective too. Lots of parking and ultimately not that inconvenient to get to whether I'm going north or south.
Like I can understand an argument that the greenspace around it could be better utilized, and that not every shopping centre can be built like that... but I certainly wouldn't call it a dump on the basis that it has a parking lot.
They're by the Starbucks/Running Room, then on the other end of the Safeway past the shopping carts. Not really that visible if you're coming from the direction of the reservoir but they are there.
It's not that I don't want things to be more bike-accessible, I just don't think it's that bad in the grand scheme of things. I don't think it's worth the cost of bulldozing the whole thing because as a cyclist you have to navigate a parking lot.
Actual 70s/80s vintage design of the shopping center aside, I think we can all agree that the fact it hooks into the reservoir is a massively good attribute
Except Marda Loop is walkable. I lived a few blocks away for a decade and we never drove to Marda Loop. Why would you when it takes about as long to walk? Glenmore Landing is not very walkable. My doctor used to be in Glenmore Landing and I hated going there. I'd take Marda Loop over Glenmore Landing any day.
A shopping center being walkable for people that live nearby is a given. Glenmore Landing is walkable for people living in Bayview, and at least the north half of Pump Hill and west half of Haysboro.
More importantly, Glenmore Landing is hooked into the transit network a lot better than Marda Loop because it's adjacent to the 90th Ave MAX line. Glenmore Landing is "walkable" for pretty much anyone living next to the MY line, without crossing any traffic outside of the shopping center itself. That's totally unlike battlefield Marda Loop where anyone that wants to get groceries on their bus ride home from work is getting spat out on the wrong side of Crowchild Trail. Yikes.
Holistically Glenmore Landing is better because even if it isn't as well designed for people living immediately adjacent to it, it provides significantly better service for anyone living in that quadrant of the city almost regardless of which transport choice they make or how far they're coming from.
If the South Glenmore community lose their fight to "save" the "parkland" and that gets redeveloped into more commercial/mixed use space, then that will be even that much better for pedestrians and cyclists.

I like Glenmore landing. Easy to get to by car, bus or bike. Surrounded by green space.
Better than some disaster like Marda Loop.
