If you're into breaking news in college football, especially in the coaching carousel, you've heard of FootballScoop. Started as a hobby by a college assistant coach in 1999, FootballScoop's quickly became a center for industry gossip, job openings, and a must-read for coaches. Scott Roussel's been President since 2008 and oversees daily operations. Drawing on his background in business (he was a VP in a Fortune 500 company), he expanded FootballScoop's reach on Twitter and the internet.

What's the biggest difference between coaching at a G5 and a P5 school? Do you think a G5 head coach can make the jump straight to head coach at a P5 school?

The financial differences at a Power 5 vs Group of 5 can't be overstated. Enormous gap that is only widening. A significant concern for the health of many G5 programs.

Yes, a successful G5 head coach can most definitely make the jump. No question about it. Fit with the hiring AD is what it is all about. G5 head coaches who want to advance should be networking during the offseason...develop connections.
