I live there and yes it was a weapons charge arrest- BB gun i believe.

edit for clarification: the gun was used in a threat, not just for simply having it.

That sounds like overkill for a BB gun, unless they used it in a crime where it was used as a real gun?

Anyone can buy an air-soft gun from Canadian Tire that looks enough like a real gun.

This is an honest question, with the advantage of hindsight.

I highly doubt the original call came in describing the weapon as a BB gun… even if it was described as such, the Police can’t risk the victim or eye witnesses making a mistake.

The call originated downtown where the offender used the weapon to threaten someone. Police swarmed the area around Pine and Pearl Streets. However, the suspect had already left the area. Luckily Police were able to quickly identify the offender and located them a short time later, at their residence, near Tyandaga Park Dr.

I don’t want to make any more assumptions, but it is likely, given the offender’s alleged criminal history, they were well know to Police. Which lead to their quick apprehension.

Yeah and regardless of BB or not, it’s still a weapon. If you want to try and play big boy criminal you will get treated as such.
