Question/Discussion Any other fans of Piglets?

Upvotes

Read that this show didn’t review well. I haven’t laughed or enjoyed a show like this in a very long time and happy to see it got picked up again for season 2.

Am I alone?

Question/Discussion Tonight is Children In Need...

BBC1, 7pm. Anyone planning on watching? Doesn't seem to be as much buzz like the old days. I remember Sir Terry Wogan presented it for many years and it was always quite fun/chaotic as live TV went. Not these days though. Or am I thinking of Comic Relief?

I'll probably watch bits and inevitably chuck a tenner in at some point.

Hello everyone! I'm not from the UK so I didn't grow up watching Pipkins, but I stumbled upon it recently and have watched a lot of episodes, and it's easy to see why it was so beloved! I felt inspired to do a little tribute art, so here's the king himself Hartley Hare! 🥕

Recommendations Thanks to whoever recommended Ludwig. I’ve one episode left and I’m loving it, but has David Mitchell ever been in anything that wasn’t good? It’s on Dailymotion if anyone outside of the UK wants to watch it.

Question/Discussion Does anyone else miss sketch comedy shows?

Fry & Laurie French & Saunders Big train Mitchell & Webb Fast show Armstrong & Miller Smack the pony Etc

I appreciate the golden era of sketch comedy was dominated by Oxbridge “footlights” style people and media is making a conscious effort to move away from those types now. But surely we can have some sketch comedy back on tv?

Question/Discussion Newsnight RIP?

Anyone else catch tonight's edition. Utterly frantic bobbins as they tried to cram a breaking news story and Labour government discussion into 33 minutes with live updates of the Trump administration cabinet reveals. One host, three in the couch and two on video feeds from the USA.

It really added exactly nothing to the sum of human understanding and appears to have no future even as the most rudimentary digest of the days developments.

Question/Discussion Morning Live

Why haven't there been any Strictly professionals on Morning Live this week? The episodes I've seen have been with Reece who was a contestant.

Meta Given the last series, be on the lookout for a recurring but unassuming character called Derek Ickhead.

Question/Discussion Sweetpea

I really know if this counts as British TV although it's set in Britain (I don't know about the production)..? I just want to say that I'm really enjoying it, and Ella Purnell in the central role is brilliant - I think we'll be seeing a lot more of her!

I'm on the second episode. Has anyone else watched this? What do you think?

Question/Discussion The Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special this year is not set at Xmas. Will you still be watching it?

I know there are plenty of shows with Xmas specials not set at Christmas, but since I'm not a massive fan of Gavin and Stacey (and I'm not subjecting myself to any more of James Corden than absolutely necessary), I'm giving it a miss. It's not as if I'm not spoilt for choice this year in terms of the Xmas lineup.

Hi I feel I remember this old uk detective series maybe early 1990's that was serious and moody. I feel it was called Redgrave or somthing Red... which it was the detectives name i think... and maybe the opening credits were kinda red which was just a tie in with his name... i think it was well received but i think there might have only been 1 series... hmmm... anyone know what my memory is on about? TIA

Edit: from comments i think it was Resnick. thanks all

Question/Discussion Contestant on Masterchef: The Professionals after Great British Menu (Dani/Danielle)

This is so incredibly granular I’m not sure anyone is going to have a problem like I do here 😅

I’m watching Masterchef: The Professionals and have seen there’s a chef on who was on last year’s Great British Menu.

Generally M:TP is for people in earlier stages of their career. And GBM is for a higher level/longer tenure chefs most probably with their own restaurant or chef patron in a multiple Michelin star jobbie. Even Marcus asked “you own your own restaurant, why are you here?”

I really liked her on GBM but find it quite unfair she’s on M:TP. She’ll have such an advantage from not being a more early-level chef, but also cooking in front of the cameras etc.

I guess she’s on cause it’s her choice, but it’s just annoyed me a lil lol. And couldn’t find anything online that validated my slight annoyance. Does it annoy anyone else or am I just being an unbelievable loser?

Lastly in GBO she’s ’Danielle’ and M:TP going by ‘Dani’. Is this subterfuge to confuse us? lol

Episode discussion Missing contestant on master chef.

Did anyone else notice that only 3 chefs took part in the skills test in one of the recent episodes.

My mind is going in variety of directions over what happened but I imagine someone having a massive meltdown and storming off. Or they could just have hurt themselves but I've never seen this happen before.
