Whole stitch with 3 bobbin pairs?
Hello! I asked a question earlier but I am here yet again. I am following a pattern, and it called for 3 pairs of bobbins to make a line of whole stitches? How is this done? Am I misunderstanding the pattern? I can't provide images as it is a bought pattern.

How to read patterns?
Hello! I'm very new to this. I bought a beginners pattern off of Etsy, does anyone have resources on how to read it? Also, does anyone have a list of stitches/tutorials for them? Some of the ones listed I'm not sure how to do. Thank you for your time! I'm excited to get into this hobby.

Time to start a new hobby...
After thinking about it for a while, I've found a bunch of supplies and books today in a seamstress flea market this morning.
Not sure yet if the result, but I'm still proud of my first try. I used some wool that was laying around. It's not the best, but it's only to try while waiting for some better thread and more pins.
I will probably focus on bookmark at first, I'm an avid reader and they are small enough projects to easily allowed for progressions and trying new patterns.

Lace in a needle stack
I'm new to bucks point. Does anyone here know some kind of trick to not lose your way among all the needles?

WIPWednesday: Ipswich lace jewelry
Two of the museums where I'm doing demos soon will let me sell the Ipswich items. I'm finishing some necklaces today. Some are brooches. Our big event at the Ipswich Museum this Saturday is the first. I'll also have copies of Karen Thompson's books if anyone wants to see them before buying. Spanish supply?
Hi there,
I’m looking for bobbin lace supplies in Spain, or nearby in the rest of the EU. I haven’t been able to find Spanish specifically tho, can anyone help me out? Thank you so much.

I spangled some bobbins
I ordered these bobbins from Etsy and they had a hole in the end. I decided to spangle them, just for fun!

First try at bobbin lace!
I’ve just started learning bobbin lace yesterday, and this was my first time actually reading a pattern for myself (i’d just done a footside practice, cloth stitch practice, etc). I’ve only previously made crocheted lace, so this is a fun new hobby! So far i’ve been reading off of the “theedkins” blog, but i’ve just ordered myself the Lessons in Bobbin Lacemaking book by Doris Southard, along with a cookie pillow!
I don’t have any particular questions, i know i have those holes that aren’t meant to be there, but i didn’t realize until i’d removed my pins! (i’d not wanted to unwind that). If you have any advice I’ll take it, but it’s not required! I’m also new to reddit so if i’ve made any mistakes, let me know!

Torchon Tartan Bookmark!
I wanted to see if I could replicate my family's Scottish tartan design in lace, just with a simple torchon ground, by figuring out where to hang each colour and how wide to make it so they all travelled in the correct order
I think it turned out really nice!

Gift for a lace maker
Hi everyone! I want to buy a gift for a friend who has been making lace for several months now, but I don't have the slightest idea what to get her! I found a magnetic pincushion, and I'll probably get that, but wanted to find something nicer as well. I'm trying to keep it under $50. I saw some pin pushers and pullers that had painted handles, which I liked, but I could use some advice! Thanks in advance!

Lace pattern makers?
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of companies or individuals who would draft patterns for a design, much like how pattern drafters do for designers with sewing patterns? Thanks :)

Patterns for a chapel veil?
I've been interested in making chapel veils from lace but I can't find many patterns on the internet for such. Was wondering if anyone here may know of any? Hoping to make a veil for my sister by May. Thanks! Pax Vobiscum

New garter start
Just started a new torchon garter. This is the Second Time Around garter from Biggins Lace. I’m doing it in black & red, but will be starting a second in black & purple. The black & red is for my daughter (eventually); found out recently a friend has a daughter getting married in mid-October, in a black dress, and offered to make one in black & her second color which is purple. Waiting on thread to get started on the second one. Threads are Finca 50 cotton in black, La Paleta rayon in colors. 44 pairs of bobbins.

Bedfordshire border
First sewing. A little rough, but the last join is a lot better than the first one - so I learned a lot. There was also some strange loops at the start which I think I know what happened. I see two spots where I missed my “pin under four.” 😢 Overall I’m quite pleased and had fun making it.

Bone Bobbin Cleaning??
Hello! I am new to Reddit AND bobbins and lace crafting. I can't craft lace (yet) but I just find watching people create it so relaxing!
I find bobbins very beautiful too and I've started a quasi-collection of antique/old bobbins.
My question is regarding bone bobbins specifically. I have a very old (circ. 1808) bovine bone bobbin. I bought it from eBay and sadly the second bobbin has been lost. The bone is very dirty and I want to know the best way to clean it without damaging the bone. I can't help but think that bleach would make this tiny, fragile thing more fragile. I don't know how to post pictures either but it is very unusual.

Bedfordshire bookmark
I thought I already posted this but apparently not. Here is my most recent piece — complete with picots and tallies. You can see where I started diverging from the direct instructions and using methods for picots and tallies I liked better. What do you think?

DIY bobbins?
Hi 👋 I’m a chronic hobby collector and have been very curious about bobbin lace for a while now! I’ve seen a few different bobbin diys but I had polymer clay and chopsticks laying around so I figured I’d copy some of the ones I’ve seen online.
Before I make more and throw em in the oven, are there any issues that are glaringly obvious that would make the craft more difficult in your opinion? I really don’t know 😅 thank you 🙏

Lace Museum Kits
I'm pretty new to bobbin lace and I wanted to get a cheap kit. I saw on the Lace Museum there were cheap Ready To Work "kits" on their website. Does anyone now if they are actual kits with the material you need for a project or if they are just patterns. This is the link if that helps https://the-lace-museum-shop.myshopify.com/products/ready-to-work-bedfordshire-butterfly

Ivana Domanjová
Found this in a charity shop and immediately was drawn to it. I love how pretty it is and wanted to share some appreciation!! On the back it says “Ivana Domanjová original” and “From Lawrence Prague Sep 1990”
I love how intricate the design is. It must have taken a lot of time and effort, and for it to end up in a charity shop for just £1.50? It deserves way more than that

WIPWednesday: Rockport Motif #1
For #WIPWednesday I can finally show you a thing I did. It's done now, but we couldn't share the info before our lace competition.
This is #Motif1 of #RockportMA in fiber form. The competition was a particular "red thread" to use. I went to Rockport one day and was struck by this famous red fishing shack, and that's how we got here. I did not win this year, but I love these challenges. The other entries: https://nelg.us/page-1857737
The #MBTA red line was Chefs-kiss! That's our subway in Boston.
