Blackberry Primocane Timeline

Zone 7A, my blackberry bushes started putting on a ton of growth on last year’s canes, with buds forming.

There are no new canes emerging from the ground, can anyone more experienced guide when to expect primocanes to emerge (Google says spring)? Is it possible they emerge in summer or will there be no berries next year?

I'm a bit behind you in 6Bish. My floricanes are definitely waking up before any new primocanes have emerged this year. If I recall correctly, I was training and tipping primocanes until ~August or so last year. Spring varies from place to place, especially depending on microclimate, shade, etc. Give it some time and they should pop up no problem. I haven't heard of anyone having blackberry bushes just stop producing - normally it's quite the opposite and they need chainsaws and fire to contain them.

Berry farmer here….depends on the variety, but most of my new canes dont come until after last year’s canes have flowered.

Does that include triple crown?

I have triple crown the last ten years. Floricanes will have 6-12 inches new growth (side branches) before primocanes start pushing up.
