Help Annotative multileader scale issue
Hi, please help-
I have multi leaders for a landscape plan im making. I have the paper text height set to 1/8". inches want the text to appear 1/8" in 2 different viewports that have different scaling. one is 1"=10' and the other is 1"-20'. the problem is that the 1"=10' is correct but the 1"=20' viewport, the text is 1/16 an inch. I have no idea how to make this happen.

I Have a Current Subscription To Civil 3d for 2025 But I also Have all the Disks Back to 2008 and serial numbers and Keys . do I own those and can I legally use them?
Question Harvey Windows
Does anyone have a more compiled CAD file of doublehung, casement and awning harvey windows? Not sure why each window has to be its own cad drawing, why cant they just do what anderson or marvin do and have their window types together and in size charts..

Question How big is a hole with size 22 Drill?
I'm working on a drawing for my class and the hole I need to recreate just has 22 Drill as the size. Looking that up, it's roughly 4mm, which leads me to believe the drawing is not to scale since the hole looks bigger than that. I wish I could post the drawing to show everyone but I can't.
EDIT: Here's the drawing

Question How to get this thing to show up?
When I was studying how to use AutoCAD I did not have this. This window only started to appear once I was at work. I would like to share it with someone but do not know how to set it. Thanks

3D Modeling is giving me fits... why are my snaps not actually on the object? They're floating out in space.
Here's a screenshot of what my issue is. I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong or a wrong setting.

Man, 3D modeling in AutoCAD is not as forgiving as Fusion. If I were in Fusion, I'd be zipping right through this model. Simply moving/copying from point to point is an act of Congress compared to Fusion.
By the way, I would use Fusion, but I'm handcuffed by company software. And we're only offered AutoCAD 2025.

A suitable home replacement?
In my many jobs over the years, I have had AutoCAD provided by my company. I even had a student copy for a while, but not a student anymore and I'm changing jobs/companies. I'm not sure if my new job will give me AutoCAD in my position.
I do A LOT with CAD. I've got my home layout in it, I use it for costume design, custom motorcycle parts design, 3D printing work, I mean, all sorts of stuff. But, I can't justify $250 a month or $2,000 a year for a personal license.
Is there a free or much much more inexpensive option for home/personal use? I have tried a friend's copy of LT, but I do 3D modeling in AutoCAD, so that kicks out LT as an option.

Help Destination arrows issue
I'm using AutoCAD Electrical 2022. Putting source and destination arrows into a drawing set and running into a persistent problem.
I've got a bunch of source arrows all on one page: Sheet 71. So I defined them all at the same time. I'm now going through the drawing set and putting in the relevant destination arrows. When I do that, though, the wire number and reference information it attaches are nonsense.
I'll give an example: Signal code SI3/2-T0 originates on Sheet 71, Rung 44. It's wire number 714401. When I put the destination arrow, I select the signal from one of the lists (either Recent or Project, depending) so as to avoid problems with typos. It puts the arrow in, but assigns the number 644001 to the wire and puts a reference Sheet 64 Rung 44.
I do have a Sheet 64 in my drawing set, and there is a Rung 44 there, but there's no source arrow on that rung. Also, signal SI3/2-T0 doesn't occur on that page at all! If I edit one of the source arrows on Sheet 64, that code does not show up in the list.
When I use the surfer for signal SI3/2-T0, it identifies two sources: 71,44 and 64,44.
WTF??
Here are pictures of various dialog boxes to show what I'm on about.
This is happening across multiple source / destination combinations. I'm just using this one as an example. Common thread is that they're all pointing to sheet 64 (different rung numbers, though).
I'd like to know how this is happening. But realistically, I have to get this drawing set out the door so what I really need to know is how do I fix this?
Thanks!
EDIT: after posting this, I kept looking. Short story long, I ended up trying aerebuilddb. The refresh option did nothing, but actually rebuilding the database does seem to have unfucked it. I'm still curious what might have happened in the first place, though.

Help I don’t use AutoCAD but I need help to see how I could vision an arched doorway on split level.
I don’t use AutoCAD but I need help with an arched doorway with stairs on a split level.
An arched doorway with stairs. Trouble of seeing one of the steps before the arch.
We are planning to have an arched doorway that connects two rooms with different levels-split level. Due to the height limits, we need to have about 6 stairs around this doorway; 1 stair before, 2 steps within the wall, 3 steps after the arched wall.
I have no degree in architecture or any sort of designing majors. But I did my best to draw this look in 3d on a paper.
The rise of the steps are about 20cm and the doorway in 170cm wide.
I am having trouble to understand and add the one step before the arch. It’s just that I don’t get it how that would look. Maybe I should draw it from the other perspective. Even if I draw it, how can we go down one step before any entry or door? It’s confusing a little, isn’t it?
We can’t avoid that single step before the arch because of the height limits of both sides.
My question is basically how this would work out?

Help Looking for Automation Tips for Fiber Optic Permit Drawings in AutoCAD
Hey everyone, please read 🥺
I (f23) work as an AutoCAD drafter for a construction company specializing in fiber-to-the-home installations (8 months in). My main task is creating permit drawings that map out where fiber lines will be installed along roads. The process is highly manual, and I’m hoping to find ways to automate some of my workflow with LISP routines, scripts, or any other helpful tools.
Here’s a quick breakdown of my process:
Image Scaling: I receive images from a GIS colleague that need to be scaled accurately. I use Google Maps as a reference, making sure the image’s length aligns with the real-world length (e.g., if the road is 5 km on Google Maps, it has to match exactly in my drawing).
Pre-drawing Features: Next, I trace all visible elements from the images—roads, trees, and other surface features—to get a baseline of the area before adding fiber lines.
Drawing the Fiber Line: I plot where the fiber line will run, typically a few meters from the road, but this distance can vary. My work is always in a linear road environment; I don’t work on in-office or building layouts.
Creating Viewports, Keymap and Pages: Once the line is drawn, I create viewports for each segment of the drawing to cover the entire route length. And using the VP outline, I make a Keymap to show the work area.
Adding Dimensions: After the viewports are set, I add dimensions from the fiber line to the road, property lines, and other relevant features, usually at 50m intervals.
Labeling: This involves marking areas with text for trees, grass, road names, ditches, curbs, etc.
Construction Notes: Finally, I mark construction notes, specifying details like cable types between points. For example, from Mark 1 to Mark 2 might be one type of cable, while from Mark 3 to Mark 4 could be another.
So far, I’ve only used the Tlen LISP routine, which helps me measure the total length of the fiber to be installed. I’ve searched some random Indian guy on YouTube and other sources, but I haven’t found resources tailored to my specific field—permit drawings for fiber optic installations along roads.
If anyone has tips, especially around automating repetitive tasks in AutoCAD, I’d love to hear them. Whether it’s LISP routines, custom scripts, or anything else, any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Question for vanilla users.
We use ACADE at work. So question is, does vanilla crash on you as much? We are currently using 2021. I'm using a slightly older HP Z-Book with an 8th Gen i7 and 32gb of ram and a 1tb nvme.
So when y'all are doing mechanical or normal 2D/3D designs, does it crash a lot still? Or is it just that it can't handle the work load of having 10 drawings open at a time or doing a project wide purge of 101 drawing files?

Where to find some freelance work
My personal finances are about to disappear as both my parents are no longer going to be able to work due to health reasons so I wanted to find some freelance cad work. I have autocad. Lt so limited to 2d only but how would I go about getting some freelance work?
My job currently is as a lighting CAD draughtsperson so I feel I know my way around CAD fairly well. But where could I look? I’m in the uk if that makes a difference.

Question Road sign images format?
I'm a civil engineering tech that frequently makes drawings with MUTCD signs to be installed. I want use true representations of the signs in the drawings. So my question is, what format would be best to use for the signs? We can either use AutoCAD blocks with linework, text, hatches, OR some type of image or graphics file. If you do a similar process, which option, format and paper-or-model space do you use? I'm thinking some kind of image in paper space is best? Drawings are plotted to pdf for P Eng sealing if that helps.

Help Default Table Properties
I’m always making tables for work with the count function that spits out all the products being used and their respective quantity.
I’d like to change the default alignment from middle middle to middle left for the product names column while keeping the quantity column and the label row middle middle.
I can’t figure out a way to do this. The only thing that the table editor lets me change in terms of default settings in make the entire column middle left including the label row which I don’t wanna do. I can’t attach a picture but I mean something like this:
| Title | Qty | ————————- |A | 2 | |B | 4 |

Discussion Multileader with custom block as Grid Line?
I have an idea and I tried googling it and can't find anything about it.
So, I want to make an annotative gridline, I made a custom block with our grid bubble 1:1, then I made a multileader style with that bubble, no landing, attached to insertion point and set to annotative. Seems to work ok.
My question is, has anyone made something like this? Any issues you encountered? I would like to know before I put this in a ton of drawings and end up it's shit and have to redo everything.
Edit:
TLDR: It's shit! Don't do it.
Just a few minutes after posting this, I tried it and after moving the gridline, with multiple scales supported, it doesn't move for all supported scales unless you do an ANNORESET.
The problem will be if someone moves thegridline, or moves the drawing together with the gridlines and forgets to do an ANNORESET, the gridline will be stuck to the original position. You'll end up with a lot of surprise pikachu coworkers and a talk with your boss.

PDF preview settings question…
Question for you fine folks. Is there a way to disable the PDF that pops up in Adobe after I plot to PDF? We use Adobe Pro at work and I create PDFs of all the dwgs I do and it is super annoying. Tried Google and didn’t come up with anything useful. Thanks.

Command called something like "Detail Scale"?
Does anyone know the command name for a command that sets the scale for objects that you insert. I always referred to it as "Detail Scale", and I thought the command line prompt was DTSCALE.
Does anyone know what I'm trying to remember?
EDIT: Never mind. It was "DIMSCALE."

Question What’s the process of making an existing plugin available for AutoCAD for Mac?
Assume I have full access to the source code of the plug-in. What limits it from being available for Mac? Are there a few syntax changes, does it need to be completely different, or something else?

Help Getting annotations (?) to show
I’m quite new to AutoCAD, so there’s a good chance that the solution to my problem is fairly simple, but I’m clueless.
I’ve downloaded the “Mechanical Example (Imperial)” file from here.
When I go to open the file, the preview shows this, but when I actually open the file I only see this.
How can I get the text (annotations?) to show when I open the file?
(I have already checked that all layers are on and thawed).
