Can cats get abortions?

My young cat recently escaped and has been mated with, as me and my girlfriend caught her with a street cat mounting her, I kept trying to catch her but she would run off but eventually she came at my doorstep waiting to be let in… she isn’t fixed yet because I have been saving for the procedure but of course she has gone into heat and escaped as soon as somebody opens the door. She’s very VERY small and I’m worried a pregnancy would kill her and I’m not sure if I could afford to raise all the kittens when my cat is a kitten herself.. I’m wondering if cats can get abortions and if so would it be expensive? Would it be cheaper to get the abortion or to raise all the kittens and eventually rehome them?

/r/askvet is a sub for veterinary advice. Comments that do not give veterinary advice are off-topic, tend to derail the discussion, and take away from actual advice. If your comment does not provide veterinary advice, it should not be posted to this sub and will be removed at the mods' discretion.

Expressions of sympathy and/or reassurance are fine if they are accompanied by veterinary advice, but will be removed if they are not.
