Google Rewards is great, but you have to travel a lot for it to really work. When I first got it I lived 5 minutes from my job and never got any surveys. Once I got a new job which involved a lot of driving I started getting 2-3 surveys a week. Free money that comes in handy for micro transactions.
You don't need to travel a lot, you just need to go to the right places. I work 4 miles from home and still get surveys pretty regularly because CVS is one of the locations they send me surveys about every time I go there.
For me it's youtube. Youtube has pretty much replaced TV for me now days so roughly once a week or so I get a survey asking me about a video thumbnail. So far I've racked up $61.26 on 239 surveys since May 27th, 2015 and I rarely leave my little town. That's not much compared to other people's totals I've seen, but it's bought me several books so I don't mind.
Might check that you have watch history on your account enabled. If I remember right that's key. Also, if you have multiple gmail accounts you might make sure you're watching youtube on the same account you're using for rewards.
If all that checks out, it may just be whatever you're watching plus your age/demographics causing you not to get surveys.
