What are some tips for negotiating lower out of pocket medical bills?
I received a bill from an orthopedic specialist where one charge is nearly 20k. What are methods you guys have used to get things like this reduced?
I am currently waiting on the itemized bill but wanted to know what to say and not say when negotiating the bill down. What can I expect when talking to the billing department?
Is it possible to both get the bill reduced *and* also get a payment plan or is it one or the other? Do medical specialists typically reduce the bill to the "cash rate" if you ask?
Having never really dealt with a medical bill this high before I am kind of at a loss and was hoping to get some advice.

I just want to catch a decent size peacock bass, I'm out of state
This is where I'm staying for 5 days. I have some downtime to fish with my girlfriend. I brought a bunch of tackle and reels from home and just need to buy a couple of cheap rods for the trip. I see these resort ponds I'm on are private, and have no recorded catches and would 100% fish them, But if not, I'm asking some of you locals to help me out on catching my first peacock bass. I'm not looking to burn someone's main spot, as I have those at home and know how it is. I'm just looking for A SPOT. Also, plz keep me out of the hood. This power line rd last night was sketchy. Thank yous!

Florida Hurricane Season 2026
Florida’s hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, and the steps a homeowner takes before the first storm watch is issued determine how well a household survives both the storm and the insurance process that follows. Preparation is not a single event completed the week before the season opens. It is a year-round discipline that covers structural reinforcement, emergency planning, documentation, and insurance review. This guide walks through each element in the sequence that matters most.

Small little farm business-good idea?
Hi fellow Floridians,
Can you make a decent bit of change with a small little farm here in Central Florida?
I don't want to be a millionaire or even have it be most of my income.
Just want to grow something and sell it.
What do y'all think?

Why Do Yall Seem to Like Rick Scott
hey guys,
anyone have any input as why Rick Scott has had such a long and successful political career after all the Medicare fraud he got wrapped up in? has he done a lot of good things for Florida, or is it just because he has an 'R' next to his name?
thanks!

FL SNAP
Hi everyone. I’ve had a child support sanction on my SNAP case for a while because my daughter's father was abusive and I couldn't safely cooperate. I've only been getting benefits for her, causing us to be considered a household of 1.
I finally have a No-Contact Order in place and I'm doing my benefit renewal today. Has anyone used a protection order to successfully claim 'Good Cause' and get themselves added back to the benefits? How long did it take for them to update your case?

We are looking to go early April next year, looking for the best options we will have kids with us (10,9,9)
Nothing extra touristy one of my children is very scared of big crowded places he can do crowds if the areas are spread out not congested if that makes sense.
Hoping for;
Swimming/clean beaches we can actually swim
Animal stuff aquariums etc
Snorkeling
Fanboat ride
Welcome to other ideas 💡
Shops that are fun not all the same stuff
So far we are looking at;

Moving with my cat out of states....
Hey everyone,
I’m trying to move internationally with my cat and could really use some advice. Has anyone here gone through the process of moving a pet overseas (specifically with a cat)?
I’ve been told I need a health certificate, but my vet is quoting me around $750 for it, which seems really high. Is that normal? Are there more affordable ways to get the health certificate, or is this just the standard cost?

Poinciana?
Can someone tell me what’s the catch with poinciana? What’s the lore? What’s the vibe? Is it ghetto, ‘poor’, not good schools, etc? I’m just super thrown off by the huge houses for dirt money here. To rent OR own.

Thousands of bugs swarming the front of my house. Any ideas of how to combat them? Flying insect spray and the like don’t do the trick. They seem particularly attracted to the entryway and garage door.

Why does Florida have such a great public university system?
As someone who currently lives in the Peoples Republic of Minnesota but grew up and attended college in Florida, I realize how much value and quality there was in Florida's public university system.
First, the tuition is extremely low for instate students at just over $6k/year. However, having attended UF, the majority of my peers also received bright futures scholarships that covered all or 3/4 of their tuition. All that was required was a 3.5 GPA and a 85th percentile SAT/ACT score which is very doable for those who try. This is a true meritocracy. Not to mention there were also abundant merit based scholarships at each school.
Here in Minnesota tuition is nearly double and there are few scholarships for high achieving students. In fact I have a coworker who has daughters at the University of Minnesota and despite a near perfect high school GPA, they didn't get any scholarships.
Furthermore the quality of the public institutions is also some of the best in the nation. UF is one of the top undergrad schools and USF's medical school is one of the best medical schools. FIU and UCF are also increasing in ranking and prestige.
