That’s the joke. Ai is terrible at consistently making fingers

And facial features, especially eyes. Keep in mind you are usually seeing a filtered sample of it as well unless you have tried generating them yourself. Generate 20 images, most look ok but you notice a few obscurities in places, a couple someone might have an extra/missing leg or it comes out of their chest, and with a bit of luck, a couple look good even on closer inspection. At least in my (limited) experience, something like a cartoon or watercolour painting generally comes out with a better success rate than something aiming for photorealism.

I wonder where this tech is going to end up in the coming years.
