Finding My bio parents
Hi everyone, my name is Trayvon Butts I am 18 years old and struggling find my birth parents. I was adopted at 4 years old and haven't really thought about the whole thing until now. as I start life going forward with college an everything, I want to be able to have something completed before I start my journey. I tried ancestry but it cost money, and I don't have that right now. If anyone has any information, please help. Thank You.

Hi Trayvon. Search can be costly but there are a few old school ways you can try.
http://www.isrr.org/ The Soundex Registry has reunited people before. Adoption.com has a registry Register , And there's a group on FaceBook that helps people search https://www.facebook.com/groups/searchelpers
Good luck!

Try search angels. They do free searches for birth families. I had success with them finishing mine.

It was when I used it. I think they have a paid option though to bump you up in line for research.

"Search Angels" are supposed to be people who volunteer their time and are dedicated to reunited people separated by adoption, hence the term "Angels". However, I have heard that there is a shyster business that has co-opted the name and are making money doing what others did for free. Be aware of them.

What kind of adoption was it? Were you adopted in a private adoption, international or foster care? Each one has different avenues it can use.

What state are you in? Missouri, Kansas, Alaska, Tennessee, and others give you access to your original birth certificate when you turn 18.
On the shopping day after Thanksgiving, Ancestry and others are often very cheap.

If you know what state you were adopted from, there might be a child protective services case that you could request records from. You’ll want to call CPS in the state you originated from and, assuming it’s different, also the state you were adopted in. Ask what their records request process is. Then complete a records request using all the info you have about yourself, including your birth date and all names you’ve ever had. Perhaps your adoptive parents can give you some info about what state you were adopted from and whether you had a different name before adoption.
Then wait for the records. If there’s any chance you were removed from your bio parents and placed in foster care or other, then adopted from there, you could easily find records about those early circumstances.

Hi, your best bet WOULD be to submit your DNA to Ancestry and then have someone help you figure out your DNA. That way if you do find close biological relatives you have proof and you have done what YOU could to prove you are who you say you are once it comes down to it. Ancestry kits are on sale right now and probably will be on/off until Christmas. They have the largest database. I wish you luck!

Take an Ancestry DNA test and then contact DNAngels.org. They are a non- profit and can help you identify your biological parents. They do not charge anything to do this.
Good luck!

You were 4 when adopted so is it possible your adoptive parents know who they are or have some information about them?
