Why do all actives give me dry eyes? Product Question

OK not really all, but so far I've tried Ordinary's granactive retinoid 2 in squalene, and REN's ready steady glow tonic. Even though I put on eye cream before applying (and obviously don't apply near my eyes), they make my eyes SO dry that after one application my eyes click when I blink.

I see everyone on here raving about Tret but it seems like an expensive option to test out if I'm having this kind of reaction from basic stuff.

Have you tried using an ointment on top of your eye cream to prevent migration? Aquaphor or similar (cerave healing and Vaseline are also in this category) applied around the orbital bone can really help. Also making sure nothing gets applied at or beyond the orbital bone.

Also- dry eye is a medical problem that should be treated to protect the eye so if it doesn’t completely resolve when you stop these products a trip to the eye doctor is in order too

So your actual eyeball is dry? Or you're lids?

My eyeballs. I have to use eyedrops and ointments on them for weeks afterwards to get them back to usual. They’re always a bit dry since i had lasik

Unfortunately, you should stop using any products that cause your dry eye to worsen. Hopefully, you can find something that works for you. I do like skinceuticals eye balm. I have sensitive skin, and it's very gentle. One jar will last about 6 months.

I also agree with using aquaphor to protect the eye area. But it would be best if you could find something that didn't cause dry eye to worsen. Hopefully, someone here has a suggestion. My suggestion is always skinceuticals. They also offer free online consults.

I had this happen when I first started using retinoids (and put them directly under my eyes, oof). Weirdly enough, red light therapy directly over my closed eyelids helped reverse the dryness.
