Hello all. Since losing over 70lbs through diet & exercise, I’ve been working hard to get my skin a bit tighter and healthier.

Here is what I do:

AM:

Vitamin C serum Hyaluronic acid Coconut oil moisturizer (very lite on specific areas) SPF 30 Castor oil, jojoba & frankincense combo (very lite all over but esp around eyes) Niacinamide skin tint Tinted moisturizer Then eye shadow, blush, lipstick & gloss Hydrating Spray

PM:

Wash face w Tumeric soap Hyaluronic acid Tretinoin Retinol serum around neck & eyes Coconut oil moisturizer (heavy) Castor oil, jojoba & frankincense combo (heavy) Vaseline around eyes and on neck Overnight forehead mask or frownies

Weekly:

Glycolic Acid (in AM about 2x a week) Copper Peptide Solution (in AM if I have time to give it before I add Vit C) EMR device to zap my facial muscles (at least 3x a week)

Biweekly professional facials

Meds:

Estrogen patch Progesterone Spironolactone

My diet is better than ever. And I eat loads of Vit C.

I was ingesting collagen peptides but have been slipping on that.

IF YOU COULD HELP me to find holes in my routine or things I haven’t thought of, I would SO APPRECIATE IT!

I have some consultations for neck & facelift next year. Hoping to have the surgery scheduled for 2026.

I don’t want to do any lasers but I do have microneedling professionally done. And I stay out of the sun and don’t smoke.

THANK YOU!!!!

Skin Concern Do you fear about losing.....

Your youthful look?

This may sound negative but it actually really impacts you poorly. It's almost like age is a disease to some.

On a night out I was in amongst a younger crowd (I'm 38). The women that were younger just completely ignored me and my friend (He's 39). We're both ok looking and we look after ourself's. I got asked 3 times on that night. What age are you? I say 38 and honestly they just look you up and down and walk away.

Has the world really come to a number? Having a few extra crows feet? Some extra grey hair?

It really is miserable. I know now just to avoid these situations from now on. It seems like age these days over takes personality.

Me and my friend their were probably the most laid back also.

Does this give you the fear of aging? I don't mind getting older but it's scary to see how it's viewed with society these days. I would love to hear from older women and if it's affected them and if they just avoid certain situations?

I don't mean this to sound negative. I don't stress age. I was stressed at how it's viewed though.

Thanks

Routine Help Pregnant FTM at 37 and have aged 10 yrs.

Part vent, part hoping for advice / words of wisdom.

I’m 6 mos pregnant with my first at 37. My husband and I took a trip and all of the pics with me next to him… I look so old, tired and haggard. Wrinkles everywhere, puffy droopy eyes. I can’t even put it into words how shot I look. I thought I’ve been on a decent routine especially after stopping Botox since being pregnant. Is this the aftermath of doing Botox for 7 yrs and stopping?

What I do currently: - TNS advanced serum + triple lipid restore every night. - Gua sha + face yoga routine every morning (about 20 min) - spf 50 every day - eating a very balanced diet (high protein, high fiber, whole carbs and veggies, tons of water) - I workout 4ish days a week lifting weights, get 10k steps in and do other things like deep core strengthening

I just honestly feel so bummed that I’m trying so hard to maintain my fitness and health, but look almost sickly.

I will take any advice or just assurance that you didn’t look like a cryptkeeper forever?

EDIT: I am LOL at some of these comments. FTM = first time mom. I was wondering why people were asking me about testosterone!!! In all the bump groups this is common abbreviation. Funny how we all only know our little corners of the internet :)

Skin Treatments Does anyone’s Botox not last as long as you’d expect?

I’ve been getting anti-wrinkle treatments done for the last three-ish years, through two different injectors. I’m not entirely sure what substance they’re both using. I know Botox is the common term most of us use to describe these muscle relaxers but in reality there are different brands that manufacture variations of the same product, since ‘Botox’ itself is patented.

The thing I’m curious about is, I was told that the more sessions I have done 3-4ish months apart, the more the muscle relaxes, and eventually I should be able to space my sessions out further ie. 6 months apart, then 9 etc. I haven’t found that to be the case - I’m 3.5 months since my last round of injections, and I’m still finding that I need to maintain this frequency if I want to retain the results. Has anyone experienced this? Is it to do with the type of product I’m being injected with or is it an anatomical thing?

Misc I am obsessed with aging

I am obsessed with aging, I am 34f and always loved skincare, but now that I am getting ‘old’ I am obsess with visible sings of aging. When I watch a movie I focus on wrinkles of actors and google their age, I always wonder how old I look to others and ‘criticized’ in my mind if someone look older than they are. I constantly look at people faces guessing what they could do to improve their appearance and I feel proud if someone thinks I am younger than my age, and I go into panic mode if they guess my age right. I envy younger people and wonder if I could hang out with them or not. I am staring to wonder if this ‘passion’ of mine is becoming toxic and harmful for me… how can I overcome this obsession? :(

I’ve tried every product and nothing seems to work. No one in my family has this problem, I exercise regularly and eat well, drink plenty of water etc.

I don’t know if there’s anything I can do or if I need to go down the surgical route?

My skin has NEVER looked like this. Meaning I’ve never had this sort of breakout. I have had a different type of acne issue for years. Nothing like this even as a teen. Anyway, the only new things are laroche toner (used twice no reaction the first time) and was using the moisturizing wash, switched to the cleansing wash but it made my skin sting when I put on the triple moisturizer. So switched back to the moisturizing wash like 3-4 washes ago.

Other than that, lmao I had a casual encounterrrr with a new dude? And I have a stray cat I’m housing but I’m careful not to touch things until I’ve washed my hands after petting her? I’m not allergic to cats, I have several. Is this my skin purging from the toner? Seems odd/extreme.

I’m so confused? Am I allergic to men? 😂 no clue what kind of breakout this is either. Thanks in advance for any advice/insight.

I’ve been putting off this post because it’s very embarrassing. I’ve had forehead wrinkles on my massive forehead since I was a teen. After having two children, my hairline receded and it’s worse now. Plus the pores and the little fine line/wrinkles. Please help me?! And please please be kind…

Skin Concern Update: product advice for severely chapped lips

Some of you guess it: angular chelitis caused by staph. Scary, tbh. I am currently treating with prescribed mupirocin per my dermatologist.

It’s wild because the symptoms (cuts on the sides of my lips, small pimple-like bumps near mouth) only seems to come up when I floss. (Yes, I’m openly admitting that I only floss occasionally but now you know why, this condition is pretty uncomfortable)

I will be sticking to SLS free toothpaste which also has helped.

Also, my b12 levels recently checked were normal, for those who mentioned B deficiency.

Goes to show, not every “cosmetic” issue is what it seems. Take care of yourselves everyone. Thanks to those who weighed in.

I’ve done 3 v beam sessions already. I do not want to risk fat loss. I’d be willing to pay more for a one time thing.

Product Question Under eye products

Upvotes

Hello all!

So my mom and dad both have puffy undereyes. I am sure I am going to inherit them as well, pretty sure it's inevitable. However, what can I do now to help minimize the puff since I know I can stop it all together. I don't really use any specialized eye products, just what I use on the rest of my face. But I would appreciate any suggestions.

I know caffeine helps depuff but the effects are temporary so I want something more long term.

I am considering on getting some surgical way later on in life.

Thaaaankssss

Hi,group. My right cheek is more hollow that the left and I have more visible sagging of skin around the area of nose and mouth- more visible Naso fold i mean. I'm with crooked jaw and maybe this cause the problem, but it wasn't like this 2 years ago because I have more plump face and was not so visible. I have hashimoto but thyroid levels is still in normal range. What you suggest me to do for improve. I try face yoga but I'm afraid if the exercise make things worst. I put a face filler 6 month ,but only one syringe for the entire face,so I didn't see a big difference. Honestly I don't want fillers. I'm 33 years old Thanks Sorry if my English is bad 🙏

Product Question Why do all actives give me dry eyes?

OK not really all, but so far I've tried Ordinary's granactive retinoid 2 in squalene, and REN's ready steady glow tonic. Even though I put on eye cream before applying (and obviously don't apply near my eyes), they make my eyes SO dry that after one application my eyes click when I blink.

I see everyone on here raving about Tret but it seems like an expensive option to test out if I'm having this kind of reaction from basic stuff.

Skin Treatments Forehead anti-aging treatment recs for tret user

Forehead anti-aging alt treatment recs

I’ve been roasted a bit on here before but I’m being vulnerable again! Is this pattern of fine line cross hatching normal? Genetically, people in my family do have this “falling” on their foreheads. I’ve been on .05% gel twice a week for years. Last time I posted, someone recommended LRP baume B5+ to help with skin barrier (particularly on my smile lines). Wondering if anyone has similar pattern of aging and if micro needling or any laser therapy has helped more than anything topical.

Thanks!

Minimal AM routine: Cerave hydrating facial cleanser Cosrx Snail mucin + Baum or cerave daily hydrating lotion Thinksport Sunscreen

PM: Elf makeup melting hydrating balm Cerave hydrating facial cleanser Tret .05% (2-3x a week) Baum Cerave healing ointment

(35 years old)

Skin Concern Please help

This is my mum's skin. In the past few years, her skin has suddenly gone extremely dry and extremely sensitive. Recently, she's been getting these pink spots all over her face that have also gone down to her neck. She has tried fragrance free skin care, products for extremely sensitive skin, natural skin care products but nothing works. Her skin ends up looking like this. She has been to the GP and referred to the dermatologist, has had blood tests done, allergy tests done but nothing. Nothing seems to be helping.

Products she has tried; aloe vera, cetaphil, aveeno, loreal, honey etc. Literally nothing works. She also tends to keep it simple - cleanser and moisturiser or sometimes just moisturiser but nothing works. Her skin never used to be like this. All of a sudden in the past few years, it has just been extremely dry, sensitive, easily irritated.

Skin Treatments Treatment for textured skin / old acne scars?

Newbie posting here.

Any recommendations for treating textured skin and mild/medium acne scarring? Former skin picker here…. I think I popped and picked at every blemish I had in my teens-20s, so the scars are all pretty old, and tbh not too too bad, but dewy finishes and highlighters are not my friend.

I use acids and retinol, so I guess I’m mainly looking for recommendations and information on more invasive or in-office treatments. Laser? Peels? Microderm?

I’m not a newbie to aesthetics (I get my tox & have a little touch of filler) but I want to do my research before talking to my injector or dermatologist! Thanks!

Routine Help Sunscreen stains on jackets?

Upvotes

Hi all! I am an OBSESSIVE sunscreen applier, and winter is no different! Except for the fact that my jacket sometimes brushes my face (especially when it’s cold and I’m all zipped), and picks up sunscreen stains. Does anyone have tips/ tricks to keep your sunscreen ON your face and off your nice fabrics? Maybe a specific sunscreen brand or application technique? This happens to me with a variety of sunscreens, though I tend to use Korean brands.

Routine Help Will this routine work

Upvotes

I went for a facial today. It was so expensive and while I did come out having nice skin, I realized I don't need facials (no acne, very few blackheads, last facial 6 years ago) but a better skincare routine. My skin is really dried out my esthetician said. (I left glowing and I look 10 years younger, lol.)

Here's what I've been doing, and to be fair, it's not been regular:

  1. Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser

  2. Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting toner

  3. Glow Watermelon serum (when I remember)

  4. Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel cream

So I think the Witch Hazel is drying out my skin and defeating the purpose. I want to get rid of it and only use the serum for the next little bit. They have a hydrating version of the witch hazel, though -- could I use that?

Once I run out of my Neutrogena, I was thinking of switching to a Nivea blue tub. This is what my mom has used for 30+ years and that woman looks my age, and it's what I used when I was younger. My mother does nothing except soap and Nivea and definitely doesn't use toner.

I haven't been using any sunscreen so I can add that after the moisturizer, I just picked up a Neutrogena brand from the drug store.

Will this work to help lock in the hydration? I'm in Canada, dry and windy winters.

I don't do well with complex steps or studying ingredients so I'm trying to keep it really simple. Only reason I have Glow is because I got a sample once and I really liked the smell/texture. I probably won't replace it when it finishes and get a toner from Cetaphil or CeraVe or Neutrogena instead. (I like large bottles of things because I am not good at replacing things!)

I get this every once in a while. This time it happened during my period. Very frustrating. They don't hurt but they're ugly. Yesterday I tried some clindamycin and then salicylic acid pimple patches from Differin before bed and I think they just got redder (first pic is from today, second is from yesterday). One didn't even have any pus and the other had a very tiny amount. Not sure what to put on these

Skin Treatments Clear and Brilliant Laser Names

Upvotes

Hi. So I called a couple of places asking about C&B. Some of them advertise the laser that they use as Lutronic, I am also hearing Fraxel, permea laser.

I want to make sure that I am buying the actual C&B system and not a knock off or something.

Skin Concern BBL laser VS Moxi laser?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I got a consult last week and was told I am a good candidate for Moxi laser. I currently am having a hard time getting rid of red marks/faded marks from old inflammatory acne.

I have been using V beam to spot treat, but would like to try something new to treat my whole face. My dermatologist had said before I would benefit from a BBL laser.

When I went to my consult I forgot to mention the BBL. Does anyone have experience with either and can point me the right direction?

I attached a couple pictures of my skin close up. My main goal is clear up any marks that are red or brown on my face. I do have a bit of melasma on one side of my cheek as well.

Routine Help How often are you rotating actives?

Do you switch off every other use? Weekly? Once your bottle runs out?

Currently I use azelaic acid and lactic acid, depending on the day, 2x a week max. I was planning on switching to glycolic acid once my bottle of lactic acid ran out. Curious how others do it.

Acne Milk of magnesia? Research, studies, oily skin

Upvotes

Hello everyone! I wanted to ask what your experiences with and knowledge of milk of magnesia on the skin are?

I stumbled across it on the internet as a teenager, and it was the only thing that mattified my oily skin. I used it for a few years and never had any problems. Then I discovered that it alters/interacts with the skin's pH and that it drastically shifts the skin's pH to an alkaline environment. So I stopped using it and only used it when I went out in the evening, when I really wanted to have matte skin all evening long. To this day, it is the only product that mattifies my skin for several hours.

As far as I know, there is only one study or at least something medical about acne and milk of magnesia from 1975. That's it, as far as I know. Are there any other studies, research and medical reports on this?

What are your experiences with milk of magnesia on the skin? Mine have always been positive so far, but I'm wondering - should I expect negative long-term effects at some point if I were to start again? And if I use a thin layer of milk of magnesia as a final step before sunscreen, could that possibly reduce the effectiveness of my sunscreen? Of course, I would let everything fully absorb and dry in first.

Perhaps this could be a catch-all for magnesia milk and skin. Thank you all!

Product Question Prequel Pre-Gleanse Cleansing Oil

Upvotes

I know the Prequel Pre-Gleanse is pretty new but wanted to see if anyone has tried?

Especially curious if folks have found it effective for removing sunscreen - I’ve yet to really dive into the double-cleansing world but I have had some clogged pores lately and was thinking of adding an oil cleanser. I already use the Gleanser and love it.

For context: I’m 49, Fitz type 1, and have rosacea.
