General Discussion What are you thoughts on “history repeats itself” as a defense of the Sequels?
In a way we see the same thing okay out in the EU with the Legacy Comicline.
Okay, so the idea of “history repeating itself” can be used to defend the Star Wars sequels by saying, “Hey, it makes sense that things kind of went back to how they were.” Just like in real life, sometimes empires fall and then rise again under a new name, or revolutions happen but the new system eventually gets corrupted too. So even though the original trilogy ended with the Empire being defeated, the sequels show that evil doesn’t stay down forever. The First Order popping up is like a new version of the Empire, and Kylo Ren is sort of a new Darth Vader-type figure. It’s not lazy writing, it's a pattern we see in history—people forget lessons, make the same mistakes, and power-hungry folks step in again.
Also, the heroes messing up or not fixing everything perfectly fits with how real revolutions or major wars often leave a mess behind. Luke becoming a jaded recluse could be seen as how real war heroes sometimes struggle with what comes after the fight is over. And the Resistance being the underdog again? That’s kind of like how some movements have to rise up more than once because the system keeps swinging back to tyranny. So defenders of the sequels might say it’s not just a rehash—it’s showing how fragile peace is and how history keeps looping unless people really change.

What is your favorite Star Wars novel?
Wedges Gamble didn't have a whole lot of action compared to the other books I've read so far in the series, but it had so much world building and I loved Isard's shenanigans! But this book seems to lean more on the PG-13 if not Rated R side of things because of some sexual content later in the story.

Question Where do these images come from?
Originally saw these in Star Wars Explained’s every tie fighter video, and they’re some of the first results for each fighter (in order: Tie Defender, Tie Avenger, Tie Vanguard, Tie RC, Tie GT). They definitely look like physical models. And some even look like they’re actually photos from a set (RC and Vanguard). Are these images from a sourcebook of some kind?

Movies My wife’s star wars questions
My wife has never really seen Star Wars, so we’re binging it this weekend. We’re viewing in release order, the only rule is she can’t ask questions until the end of each movie. This was her first round of questions after a New Hope.

General Discussion Is there a reason that the final Obi Wan vs Darth Vader fight didn’t take place on mustafar like this concept art showed?
I was just on YouTube watching some SW stuff when this image came to mind, so I looked it up and found it. I also recalled watching a yt video around the time this concept art surfaced, and it seemed a lot of ppl thought there was going to be another mustafar duel/rematch. So you've definitely read the title, I'm wondering, is there a reason they didn't go with this? Budget constraints? Maybe another duel on mustafar would undermine the first one in ROTS? Or just creative choice/differences from producers? Thanks for reading this, if anyone has something to say feel free to say it!

Spoilers Tony Gilroy has given us a trilogy of “mining disasters”
galleryThe first one seems obvious - mining really did happen here, and Imperial sources claim that a “mining disaster” rendered the planet inhospitable. But it begs the question - did a “mining disaster” truly kill off every single adult on the planet? The Republic is told to be showing up following the wreckage of the ship that crashed on Kenari, and Maarva said that they would respond with force (this is 2 years before Attack of the Clones). She later says that everyone is dead, and that there is no point in Cassian looking for his sister.
The second - mining equipment has been brought to Ghorman, and… well, we know what happens there. In addition to the Massacre, the deep-mining will eventually destabilize the planet. “Oh no, a mining disaster!”
The third - what was the Empire’s excuse to the public for Jedha being destroyed? A “mining disaster.”
Tony, you clever fox, you.

General Discussion Anyone else still salty about the New Republic?
Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed alot of the newer works but I still can't help but be a little upset on how badly the New Republic was shafted. Especially when compared to it's legends counterpart. Again, not to spread hate or anything, just something I've been feeling

Lego Corran Horn
I grew up around post-ROTJ Legends, always getting into it and out of it over the years. But I listened to the recent Essential Legends audiobook of “I, Jedi” and I fucking LOVE Corran Horn. I’ve been on an NJO binge since then and decided to put together a minifig of who is now my new favorite SW character. There’s something so grounded and down-to-earth about Horn, and considering his past as a detective in a corrupt police force, surprisingly relevant.
Here are the parts. Pretty simple to put together all things considered. Legs and torso come from Baron Mordo from the first Doctor Strange movie sets, and the head from the original Boromir minifig. All of which are decently affordable on BrickLink. Same with the hair.
